THE FALL SEASON.

IN ADDITION...TODAYS HIGHS ARE THE HOTTEST DAYS SO FAR FOR THIS
YEAR...EXCEEDING THE HIGH FOR 2005 PREVIOUSLY OBSERVED IN EARLY

Texas Heat. Mmm, mmm, GOOOOOOOD!

Not to mention, but that kind of heat tends to keep most of the yankees away...

102 in Phoenix. If the weather was great then there would be too many people coming from CA and places in the northeast, coming with them would be their bullshit ideals, so I have learned to appreciate the deadly heat.

ETA: Damn, beat by my slow ass typing

Central Unit die?

I would be going to walmart and getting an $80 window unit!

Hang on though we are supposed to drop into the 80s for highs on Thurs.

No, just in my Jimmy, the house is my refuge from the heat!

I was in Dallas from June-Dec and in jun-Aug it was in the 90s-100s. And I could hardly walk 5 blocks down to the corner Subway Sandwich Shoppe. You folks in TX need A/C.

ITs beautiful here in Oregon. High today was 75. Patty

Link Posted: 9/25/2005 9:55:47 PM EDT
Wow, it was just about the same as it is here in Kuwait!
Link Posted: 9/25/2005 10:01:41 PM EDT
cold front is supposed to push it down to 90 by friday here in south texas...

You know what gets me?

I talk to folks from across the US, and they're ALWAYS convinced that it's hot where they live. Sure, it's like 20 degrees cooler where they are, but "THE HUMIDITY IS SO BAD HERE!". Yeah, right. I know Austin isn't as bad as, say, Phoenix (any place where your shoes melt to stick on the pavement is insane) but it's not like our humidity is 0 either. Somehow, people in Iowa think that their humidity is so high, even though they have no large body of water nearby, and we're just a 100 miles or so from the Gulf of Mexico.

For anybody that hasn't been to Texas - what you don't realize is the relentnessess of the Texas summer. People bitching up North about the heat can really only do so for a couple of months. Here, it could start as early as March or April, and stay brutal - like now - into October. And it's not just this hot for a few hours a day - it's like that from 9:30 in the morning until after midnight.

The good news is that a cold front will come through and drop us down to about 90, but the NWS has already indicated that it's supposed to slowly "warm back up". Oh goody. I was afraid I might get a chill there for a while...

I worked Austin City Limits music festival yesterday. 67K people, no shade, copious alcohol, and rampant stupidity. Yankees and tourists galore. Folks were being carried out constantly. The EMS guys didn't stop for a second.

All the water they had was maybe a 20 oz bottle each. I drank TWO GALLONS and was falling behind.

But hey, 17 hours OT.

85 for a high here today.

One of the main reasons I left Texas many years ago and moved to God's Country, Minnesota....tired of the constant heat and hardly any relief from it...........

Oh goody - downright cool at 107 today.

It was 38 when I woke up this morning and is currently about 73. It's been a little humid today (30%) but I think I will survive.

That's the ONE thing I don't like about Texas. 102 here today, probably going to be like that the rest of the week. It hurt to open my car door and put my seatbelt on, I thought my hands were going to melt!

I don't know how many times I have done just about the same thing. Drink 2-3 gallons of water and not have go pee all day long. Most of those times were in Yuma or at 29 Palms, but I have done it a few times here in Texas too.

"The relentless heat plus the humidity is enough to drive you crazy .........."

That's what I was up against today here in South Central ND.

I'm 30 miles north of San Antonio, today was 103, yesterday was 105. And this was at 6:00 pm. I don't know what the heat index was.

It was a balmy 102 up here in Ft. Worth, but I see it will be 78 for a high, and 52 for a low at the end of the week..... BRING IT... and to all you Yankee's in the 70's, get your snow shovels ready, muhahahaha
Link Posted: 9/26/2005 5:31:38 PM EDT
78? That would be a dream. We're gonna cool down to about 90...

I always wait until the end of Oct to go and visit my mom in Houston, just so the temps are easier to deal with

Put a new tin roof on my livestock shed today. If you don't like it in Texas there is always other options.

I'll take a little heat over scraping ice off my truck.

I'm with you, Brother! I LOVE the heat! Makes me remember what season it is! Just stay hydrated, and you'll be just fine!

Well, I do love Texas.

I also LOVE bitching a lot, hence this rant...
