Does any other rifle take clips LIKE the M1 garand or is the M1 the only one that does??

reason why I am asking is that Sportsmanguide.com has Korean 30-06 for 35.00 and they are in the clips already HOWEVER it does NOT say if it is for the M1.

They will work.

The only thing you have to watch for is the ammo, some of the korean ammo is corrosive, some is not, look in the M1 area there should be a tacked thread about it.

Yes, those ar ethe clips you need for your rifle.

Extremely unlikely that they are anything else.  The Koreans used the M1 during the war.

I've got some of the non-corrosive stuff on clips, in bandoleers.  Out of my rifle I get about 4 MOA accuracy, which is all I really expect.  Shoots flawlessly.  I bought it specifically so I'd have the clips.

There shouldn't be a problem, and I would load up. If in doubt, ask SG when you order.

The M1 is the only .30-06 rifle that takes clips.  That is, 8 round en-bloc clips.  Rifles such as the 03 Springfield and 1917 Enfield can be loaded by 5 round stripper clips.

Thats what my idea is too.... plus at .19 a round versus .50 a round ... and that is CHEAP!

They're Garand en bloc clips. And don't sweat the 'corrosive' bit - just clean the weapon thoroughly when you are finished firing it for the day.

I bought 4 cans of that stuff.  Good deal shoots great no issues and it is for the Garand.  Looks as though the cans havent been opened since they were closed. Nice ammo cans. Seals still in great shape . I'm buying more.  Sportsmans doesnt say it is corrisive but Idid notice some of the ammo they sell does say it is.  So it may be safe to assume that they would put that in the add.

Some surplus comes on five round stripper clips for the mauser/springfield rifles.

try jsesurplus.com, they have Garand clips there at a pretty decent price.  Tell Margie that you heard it from Darren. . .

I have the Korean stuff as well. But nothing is good as the new Dane stuff that was around a few months back.  Looks brand new.  The Korean stuff is also good but you can tell its older and have around for a while.  But are you going to argue when its half the cost?

But you get a bunch of empty clips at the end and they cost a few bucks as well.

Thanks for the heads up on the ammo. I bought some at the last gun show......six clips of eight rounds in bandolieers for $19. Dealer told me it was non corrosive but Ihaven't shot any of it yet. Sounds like a good deal.

DO NOT use the Korean 30-06!! Way too many instances of over pressured cartridges. Look and ask on the Culver page about Korean 30-06.

The Korean is good ammo except for a few LOT #'s of PS  namely lots 150 thru 160.
The KA corrosive ammo in garand clips is good stuff and all the enblocs the Koreans used are USGI .

Yup. One of my college acquantances owns one. I finally found a source for 8x56mmR ammo for it too. He's never shot it.

No source for clips though.

Why dont you go and read the threads. Then you would realize its only some few lots that are bad.  Most of it is good.

Stick to USGI M2 Ball ammo or try out the Greek Surplus that the CMP just got in

If you need en-blocs let me know, I have a pretty good surplus of them right now

What was the head stamp?  PS=non corrosive, KA=corrosive

I bought some of the korean stuff a little while ago. It was a mixed batch of PS and KA headstamps. I had heard rumors that the KA might not be corossive. Some of the KA headstamp rounds were damaged, so I pulled one down and  tested it. I fired the primer with the case mouth against a piece of mild steel that had been cleaned with sand paper and degreased. The area with the residue showed noticable rust after 2 days in my basement at ~65% RH. The clean areas remained rust free.

I bought an ammo can of USGI M2 .30-06 ammo from the CMP (but it is in boxes, not on clips).

I am glad I got that Dane stuff.  Its nice and shiny and the clips are nice and dark as well.  Very accurate too.  It came in a nice wooden crate and the clips are in bandoleers.
