Well, amongst other things, the current socialist gopherment of France was about to get rid of all private gun ownership. So, maybe _that_ baby is dead :) I know, I kow, "French shouldn't have guns to begin with", but I was fearing the domino effect. Once France bans all guns, Germany might follow, too.

ANY blow against ANY socialist gopherment should be applauded by us, and that includes the socialist gov of France, as well as the socialist/enviro-nazi gov. of Germany (where elections for the parliament will be held this fall, too).

Picture it: Austria's Haider, France's Le Pen, Germany's Stoiber (who will definetly become Chancellor)...that leaves Britain's Blair as last socialist chief of state in Europe, at least as far relevant countries there are concerned.

This is a _good_ thing, guys.

France will never be more than a mediocre crapheap until they shake off the socialist/communist leanings. I don't expect that to happen any time soon. Just wait until all the commie unions go on strike - again.

This is what disgusts me the most about them. They do not have democratic values. When they win an election the opposition accepts it. When they lose an election they will not accept it, instead taking to the streets in an attempt to thwart the issues the election was about coming to fruition (through violence, striking, attempting to shut down the government, etc).

They are the brown shirts of today.

Too many foreigners in France, etc.  Finally waking up, are they.  How about the hypocrisy when they criticized Austria for the same thing.  Only Austria is a small country with a population about the size of NYC, and was being overwhelmed by foreigners who wanted to take over.  It's "different" in France, I'm sure.  Glad to see there are at least some who protest in France, but with less than 20% of the vote, it will be interesting to see how this comes out.

Was it Gen. Milch who said: "The French are a nation of whores.  They'll sleep with whomever gives them a profit."

French Ex-Candidates Unite Against Le Pen
PARIS (RN) — Defeated French presidential hopefuls on both left and right today rushed to endorse incumbent Jacques Chirac for the second-round vote — a concerted effort to keep power out of the hands of mean, scary non-socialist Jean-Marie Le Pen.

Among the minor party candidates endorsing Chirac:

Marcel Marceau - Silent Majority Party (1.7%)

Jerry Lewis - Cancerous Clown Party (1.2%)

In a joint statement, Chirac's supporters announced that "We will never surrender in our fight to preserve France's democratic heritage -- unless, of course, someone were to actually attack us."  

jobux - you're on the same side as CNN, the socialist party and mobs of rioting socialists, opposing a former paratrooper who wants to rescue the country from socialism.  Think about that.

Politics is a dirty business, and the little guys always get smeared hard.  In this case, the socialists see that there's a valid and credible challenge to their continued rule - so they get their buddies in the media to rough him up a little in print, going back decades if necessary to find a suitably alarming quote.
