What to do? Where to go? What to drink? What to eat? What to see?

Plenty of great bars and restaurants along Massachusetts ave.  Downtown is pretty safe.  I'd avoid the mall after sundown though, especially if unarmed.

Great art museum by Butler University around 38th st.  The zoo is fun on the west side of downtown.

St. elmo's if you like shrimp cocktail.  I don't do seafood, but it's supposedly world renowned.  Indy 500 museum, zoo is pretty good.

Awesome Italian restaurants just south of downtown on fletcher. ...the Milano Inn and Irias.

Irias has been there for almost a century and looks like it was part of goodfellas.  Milano inn is closing at the end of this month :(

St. Elmo's, 1933 lounge ( above St. Elmo's - good for apps & drinks), & Morton's. It is a toss up between the 2, but be sure to bring your checkbook.

Slippery Noodle In if you like blues. As was said above, St. Elmos for the shrimp cocktail...and everything else on the menu.

Been years since I've been that far north but you could also check out Grays Cafeteria in Mooresville (about 10 minutes south of Indy on Hwy. 67) it use to be an excellent lunch stop with homestyle cooking when I lived up there. There is also a pretty good BBQ joint in Mooresville named Squealers.

There are some gunshops up there also but I have no idea what they are like these days. Bradis use to be good but I heard they have slipped some now.

Used to live on the west side within walking distance of the 500. I need to go visit soon. My brother lives in Clermont.

Tiki Bob's Bar over near the Colts stadiumplex is probably not all that impressive, but many years ago the trim inside was mind bottling to a 20 year old small town kid.

Indiana Gun Club for trap, skeet and sporting clays. They also have a very nice gun shop on site. Mostly high end shotguns, but also handguns and EBR's.

Good eats in the Fountain Square neighborhood. B's Po Boys for New Orleans style grub, Siam Square for Thai, and Red Lion Grog House for pub food.

Mass Ave is also wall to wall with good restaurants and bars. Mimi Blue's Meatballs is a favorite of ours

Milktooth, Black Market and Bluebeard for more cutting edge cuisine.

Indianapolis Museum of Art, Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum, Indiana State Museum, the Eiteljorg Museum and the Indiana War Memorial are well worth seeing.

This just scratches the surface. It takes more than a weekend to see what Indy has to offer.

St Elmos is mostly a steak house, and a highly regarded one
Look up places to get a good pork tenderloin sandwich, too.  There are a couple places right in or around Indy.

I used to spend a good bit of time up in Kokomo at my last job.  They have a few decent  restaurants up there, and they do have hiphuggers.   It is also well known for many miles around.

And if you time and inclination to drive a couple hours, head up north on I-69.  Go see the WW II Victory museum near Auburn, and the Auburn/Cord/Deusenberg museam also in Auburn.   Very well worth the time to have a look.

There is the Academy of Model Aeronautics museum and flying site if model aviation is of interest to you.  They have a nice museum there, with old and "famous" flying models.  Unfortunately you will probably not see any Rc airplanes flying now.

Update. The Wife's cousin took me to Saint Joseph Brewery where we polished off a plate German sausage and sauerkraut and a lamb burger. Brews were fantastic! "Popemeal" oat beer was the best followed by St. Nick's ale. Ended up soaking up suds in some new joint in the mall and chowing down in Harry and Izzy's. I have to say the prime rib pizza at Harry's is damn sure worth talking about and at $16 was one of the cheapest options on the menu. So far so good men. Looking forward to tomorrow.
