I am now suffering from "technological rugburn", as I like to call it.
I've seen one too many gadgets that make no sense.
This evening, I saw my first refrigerator with a built-in TV set.
WHY???
I'm hardly a technophobe...far from it, I like gadgets and electronic toys and can always think of
another thing I'd like to add to my collection of cool electronics, particularly for my home theater system.
But I like gadgets that have a well defined purpose. Things that make SENSE.
The combination printer/scanner/copier/fax machine/telephone, I can understand.
I can even get the idea of the cellular phone with a camera in it.
But a refrigerator with a built-in TV set?
That's just nutty.
I've heard that there's also a TV set with a built-in beer cooler. It's probably true.
I'm starting to miss the good old days. The days when your phone was for phone calls, your TV was for watching television, your camera was only a camera, the refrigerator only kept food cold,
and there wasn't this push toward putting a computer into EVERYTHING you can buy.
I have seen the future, and it's a flashy blinking light on a computer.
