I got to wondering, if someone (NO, IT WASN'T ME) constructed an illegal weapon, or brought a legal weapon across state lines illegally, or did someone did something of that nature; how long until statute of limitations kicks in?

Something like 7 years from when the offense STOPPED...

So, for example, it would be 7 years after the weapon left your possession/was destroyed...

Okay, what if an individual comes home from another state with handgun/rifle/shotgun that was gifted to him/her? The firearm by itself isn't illegal, but the act of transporting and obtaining it without an FFL is.

Alright, I just checked.

It is five years for both NFA and GCA.

I was just curious.
