Anyone want to join me?

I figured I better do something drastic, or I'm going to die before I reach 40, which isn't all that far away.

I lost close to 70 pounds on it back in 1996, but I never bothered to maintain it. My own fault, really...

Go to the self-defense and fitness forum.

A few of us are doing it.
I did it before (50lbs), the only problem was staying on it.  I had gained a few back over 2 years.  IT IS A LIFE CHANGE.
I lost 20lbs since daylight savings back in April.

Make sure you guys drink plenty of water so you don't screw up your kidneys in the long run.

It's amazing how many carbs we ingest with all the refined sugars, breads, and the damn upside down food pyramid we've been fed for years.

Remember this thing is still a diet, not necessarily the healthiest way to eat.  If you go on a diet it's too lose weight from eating too much.  Many people find this diet easier but it's still a diet and if you go off it or over do it you will gain the weight back.  The best solution is to not eat as much and get some for of exercise.

The food pyramid works just fine, even for losing weight if you watch the amount you eat.  I lost 30 pounds eating healthy, mainly because I was unemployed and couldn't afford the convienent foods, very high carb/fat/calorie foods.  As soon as I got a job and more stress, I went back to eating convienent foods because it was easier and gained all the weight right back.  Working on taking that off now by not eating as much and eating more fruits and vegetables, which you can't do on the Atkins diet.

Yeah...I probably should join ya Zaphod.

Funny thing is my mother has just started this thing(She's not real big, could probably lose 20#'s)so she's all excited about it and is sending me the book.

Maybe I'll check you fella's over in the health anf fitness forum.

My problem is ,other than having "moderation" issues,is that I work at a fucking grocery store.

Fresh bakery, greazzy deli and all those lovely, convenient frozen food products staring at me every day.

Not to mention about fifty feet of all the different kinda ice cream treats you ever wanted. [naughty]

I started Feb 1 and lost 22 pounds to date.  I don't exercise and I cheat every now and then.  Easy diet and I'm never hungry.  I've got 10 or 15 to go.

I would like to correct your definition of diet.

go to www.dictionary.com

Weight is meaningless if your trying to avoid a heart attack.  Its all about what shape your in and how much fat you haul around.

Two months ago I switched to diet soda pop, started exercising an hour each day for five days a week religiously, and I lost no weight.  I do free weights and tredmill. I've lost alot of fat, gained muscle, and feel great.  My pants fit much better.

Shok

For the record.....

If I get pregnant, NickFury is right. The media circus WILL be enough to set me up for life...

Exercise Shmecksercize. Don't have time to scratch my ass, let alone run three miles a day or lift. Right now this is my only option.

I did the diet back in 1996 and went from 270 to 215 in about 6-8 weeks. Never been happier! I look at old photos and compare them to my current predicament, and I don't know whether to [>Q] or [puke] or [xx(]. It took me the better part of three years (married) to screw it all up. It's a mistake I will NOT make again!

The diet that works for me is sugar busters.Set a goal not to lose more than 2# a week. Also power walk for at least 5 times a week from 30 to 60 mins. at a time.Drink plenty of water. What you have to do is a life style change.I have to do it  because now I have no choice.
