FUCK THEM. I will ever spend a cent there ever again.
I go in 15 min before they close with an order of 8 drinks and the guy said i need to call in before coming in at that time with an order of that size. He also said he cleaned everything already so he didn't want to make my drinks. I wish I wasn't in uniform so I could have tore him a new asshole. update: Well I just got off the phone with the store manager. She is the one that helped my get the starbucks gold card when they first came out. I told her what happened. She asked "what can I do to make it better?" I said "nothing, I will never go to this starbucks or another one ever again, I will make my own coffee or go else where for now on." |

What happen to the Starbucks "Love all and be FREE Community service" scam?

In uniform? I'd have dirtied the machines for you. He was probably late to a midnight Obama vigil.

I think you went to the wrong place. I don't think you can get "Serviced" in Starbucks...though I could be wrong.
J/K yep, I'd call in a complaint to the company. That sucks. |

serve != service
i thought this was going to be a great post about some girl named starbuck. |

I don't patron Starbucks. Personally, I think their coffee sucks.

they refused to service you? were gentleman's lattes half off?
|

Didn't they just announce 1000 more employee layoffs?
With service like that, you can't be surprised. |

Call the manager, tell him they wouldn't service you during business hours.
At best he gets written up, at worst he gets fired. win-win |

Ok, speaking from someone who worked at Starbucks (in high school)...I will tell you how to properly handle this situation (and get a bunch of free shit).
It is Starbucks policy for the employees to still serve customers even up to 15 minutes after closing. Even if the doors are locked (you lock them at closing), you still have let in and make drinks for anyone who comes to the door...regardless of what it may be. So, here is how to handle this. Call the store and ask for the store manager (specify not a shift manager or assistant manager). Once you get them on the line, tell them you are extremely angry at the treatment you received on behalf of their staff (but don't tell them what happened right away) and that you would like the personal contact number for the REGIONAL manager. Immediately this manager will start flipping shit. He will ask you what it is wrong and try to handle it on his end first. Stonewall him until you get the number. Once you get the number, you can then tell him how you came in to order 20 drinks for the local orphanage or whatever but were denied PRIOR to closing by two rude employees. Make sure you give a description. He will then offer to give you that # of free drink coupons on him. Cool. Get them...and then call the regional manager and relay the message again. But when you get the regional manager on the phone to tell them the exact same story, make sure you tell them the store manager was reluctant/refusing to give you their contact information. Trust me, they will make it right...if not, take it to the extreme and tell them you have nothing better to do (since you are unemployed or whatever) than stand outside their building all day and tell customers just how shitty their service is. You can make out like a bandit, trust me. |

I haven't been there in a while, but when I used to go frequently, they served me even if I showed up 5 minutes before closing. But my order was 3 coffee drinks, max. This was at several different outlets, not just the local one where they knew me.
Eight drinks is a large order, but if it's 15 minutes until closing, they should serve you or have the balls to lock the door. But, there could be a reason for this. Very often those kinds of jobs don't pay the employees past the closing hour. So, if they close at 10:00PM, the employees are paid until 10:00PM even if it takes an additional hour to clean. So, what they do (and what I used to do when I worked at the gas station), is you start to scale things down 30 minutes before closing, so you can time it so you leave right at closing. Those kinds of jobs don't pay enough for one to work free overtime for the boss. If I owned the shop, I would stay over to make your drinks. But don't expect some minimum wage kid to work free overtime. Starbucks may have a different policy, but I doubt it. I have never worked anywhere that paid me for cleanup after the place closed. And sometimes the cleanup is substantial. At the gas station where I worked, it took an hour to clean-up (including mopping out the bays that used to have a gallon of spilled oil on the floor). The mechanics left all their crap for the closer, so as you can imagine, it was in the closers best interest to close up as much of the shop as possible before closing and do nothing but process gasoline purchases until he clocked out. |

Yeah, you have to work after closing...clean up, do the machines, empty the trashes, prep stuff for the morning staff (frappucino mix, grind/weigh coffee for the machines, etc, etc). You were easily there for up to an hour after closing. |

Oh yeah...
I have all the tricks and schemes relating to Starbucks and how to handle their schmuck employees. The best time to go in is right at closing, make some small talk with the dumbasses working there, and then ask if they are doing any markouts. All sandwhiches, salads, and certain pastries (the ones more than 2 days old, though some can be older than that depending on the pastry) all have to get marked out and tossed...so it is possible to make out like a bandit. |

There is no dunkin donuts near me, and no other coffee shop open past 8pm. Looks like I will just start to make my coffee. Also I don't drink that flavored gay shit. The blacker the betters(god, that sounds gay, good thing I'm not in the navy).

If you are paid on a time clock, there is no excuse to do a stealth "close up" before the real closing time. It sounds like the Starbucks guy was trying to get out early for whatever reason, but he has no excuse if he's paid to close. That's kind of bullshit. But I know what it's like to be in a hurry to see a concert or take out a girl. That's just part of being a young single dude. |

The real reason: The employee was afraid that you were ODed with caffeine. |

But I know what it's like to be in a hurry to see a concert or take out a girl. That's just part of being a young single dude. Well, at closing they always have two people on the clock. One of them is a shift manager and the other is a 'barista'. Usually, since things wind down around closing time, one person will stay up front and man the register and make the drinks while the other guy (the shift) is doing the prep, financial shit, etc in the back. Once that is done, the shift will come out and man the front and do some misc cleaning, stocking, and make drinks/serve customers while the barista empties the trash, sweeps, mops, and does everything else. That is how an efficient crew does it...because even though you are paid, you want to get the fuck out of there as soon as fucking possible. I worked there for quite awhile and never did I meet a single person that saw it worth dicking around after closing to get an extra dollar or two. at ~$8/hr + tips for a Barista and $9/hr for shifts, it's really not worth your time.... |
