Is it possible to convert the 18" Scout rifle into the 22" version? Are new 22" National Match M1A barrels readily available? Thanks!

If the 18" doesn't reach the curvy cutout thing inside the safe I have to get it to reach somehow.

If you set it on top of a brick it will work. This also adds weight to your safe making it harder for someone to haul it off[:o)].

A good smith can put a new barrel on your rifle.

Just put on a very large recoil pad.

Any good gunsmith should have a barrel stretcher in his shop. just keep in mind that the longer you stretch it, the thinner it gets.

That will make it a .223 M1A.

SeaDweller, Just go to your local hardware store and buy a wooden dowel that is about 30 inches long and less in diameter than a .308, then stick it in the barrel and put it in the safe. OR you could just IM me and get that short rifle off your hands! For a low price that is.
