Is it possible to convert the 18" Scout rifle into the 22" version?

Are new 22" National Match M1A barrels readily available?

Thanks!

Step away from the crack-pipe!  You don't lengthen an M1A, you always shorten...  Buy a full length version and leave that beauty alone!

If the 18" doesn't reach the curvy cutout thing inside the safe I have to get it to reach somehow.

If you set it on top of a brick it will work. This also adds weight to your safe making it harder for someone to haul it off[:o)].

A good smith can put a new barrel on your rifle.

Just put on a very large recoil pad.

Any good gunsmith should have a barrel stretcher in his shop.  just keep in mind that the longer you stretch it, the thinner it gets.

That will make it a .223 M1A.

SeaDweller,

Just go to your local hardware store and buy a wooden dowel that is about 30 inches long and less in diameter than a .308, then stick it in the barrel and put it in the safe.

OR you could just IM me and get that short rifle off your hands!

For a low price that is.
