They might be some of the 10th Mountain Division guys moved in that area according to Fox News, so technically not Special Forces.  That term is being thrown around too loosely by the media...

this does remind me of something, since when have they allowed their pictures to be taken?

They are definatly not from the 10th mountain.

Its the M4's right?

10th Mountain should still have M16's for one thing.

10th Mountain is a regular light division, by this time they would all be required to have the crossed bayonets, US army and their name sown on.  Only 1, a SFC, is wearing rank on his PC, they all would if they were in the regular army.   Some of them are wearing the SPEARS jacket that is a SF issue item, many are wearing strap down cool guy holster, the regular army discourages this.  No one is wearing a Kevlar, which is something that the regular army really makes them wear all the time.  Some of them have the lowers removed from their cammies and sown onto their sleeves again another practice the regular army discourages.

And why does he have a Thermold in his M4?

Look closely at the mag in the gun on the guy on the right. the ridges are going front to back not up and down.

I think that Thermold is just an optical illusion.  If you look at pic 2 it's the same guy and it's clearly an aluminum mag.

In a normal division, they would NEVER allow the troops to waltz around wearing fleece pullovers. You only get away with that kind of shit in Special Ops.

Also, if you look closely at the mag. in the picture. it is obviously not a thermold because I can also see up and down ridges. The thermold thing is an interesting effect, though.

ALso, you want to talk about effects. Check out the guy far right and rear. The angle makes it look like he is wearing an old-style British Military Hat.

Well, you can tell by looking at the bottom of the magazines that ol' 550 cord is still the preferred means of quick extract. Maybe Magpul still has work to do on its marketing campaign.

Hmmm, Why are SPEC OPS doing the preperation of the airfield for relief supplies? I would say the Spec op guys are over qualified for that job.

Ben,  Spec ops usualy sets up the air fields until "regular" troops can relieve them of their duties.
