My father always said, Never get a tatoo - if you have to resort to a life of crime you don't need an easy identifier.

However when womenz sport 'em I used to use it as my identifier of EZ woman or potential sluts.

mine post was beinf sarcaSTIC AS SGTAR15KNOWS I HAVE A FEW TATTS.

it just amazes me how you guys post in here to say tatts are not for you, who the f^ck cares. start your own thread about why you don't have any

Yes, I knew that.  ANd that bunny you have on your ass is amazing work.  I still don't know how you got it to wink like that!

PS  And that AR on my shoulder is a Bushmaster...if you look really close you can see a slight purple tinge to it.

I have a large pouncing tiger, with grass, & bamboo on my left arm, & shoulder, & a skull with a noose, wearing a cowboy hat on my right arm. I'm thinking of having a Marine Corps emblem in black done to cover the cowboy.

I must say I agree with Tequilabob, if you don't have one why are you posting here. That wasn't the question, brush up on your reading comprehenshion. I'm still waiting for the yahoo to show up & say people with tat's are all low life criminal types who deserve no respect, & should be put in prison, because they are idiots, you can always tell. because they have tattoo's.

Don't get me wrong; I've got nothing against ink. I just see too many wannabes walking around the city sporting ink because they think it makes them look tough or cool.  But anyone with a fistful of dollars can get ink.  Scars OTOH are bought with blood.  Some think they're ugly, but I wear mine with pride.

I was wanting to get one soon....thinking about my wrist since it can be concealed with a watch if needed.

Cool stuff though sarge

A M16 bayonet or the words Molon Labe would fit nicely under a watch band.

Although I would recommend that area myself.

The shoulder is very easy to conceal, plus there is more muscle for that flying #1 needle to work with.  If you look closely you can tell the guy got very good detail, which means smaller needles and more time.

Ok, good.  Now let's carry this one a little further:

1. Hot Branding
The animals must be dry. If the hide is wet, it robs the iron of heat and causes scalding resulting in a blotched brand.

Clipping the area to be branded improves the quality of the brand.

The hot iron should be applied to the animal firmly and then rock the handle slightly to assure that the brand characters are applied evenly. This prevents under burning or over burning. When the iron is removed in three to five seconds, the hide should be a buckskin colour and look like saddle leather. If the iron is removed too early, a temporary brand (hair brand) will be left that will soon disappear. In this situation, take extreme care to apply the iron a second time in the exact same location to avoid any blotching.

Now the tattooing process:

The human skin is made up of two principal parts: the epidermis and the dermis. The outer, thinner epidermis consists of four or five cell layers. The inner dermis is made up of two portions: the upper, papillary region and the reticular region. Tattoos are made by inserting ink into the deepest layers (the dermis portion) of the skin, which shed cells at a slower rate than layers closer to the surface. That is why tattoos can last a lifetime.

SO you are right.  Getting a tattoo is like being branded.

What? Almost 40 responses and only 3 people posting pics?

I'm STUNNED!

The tattoo thread almost always gets the inherent +1 post "I don't have one", or +1 I hate them response. LOL!

I've posted many of mine before. May try and get some up tomorrow.

This one always gets a response.
Usually something like "Holy Shit !"
It's a Scottish claymore. I had the length of it  bobbed to fit the canvas.

It's not really crooked, it just looks that way from holding the camera out to take the pic.

Historical point, Claymores usually didnt have such downswept hand guards and the guard normally had a trefoil end.  What you have is a normal Scottish small sword, IE Claybeg(missspelled I know) But thanks to English Military regulations, any Scottish sword (including basket hilts) are now known as a Claymore.
