I love spam. You can sculpt it into different shapes and then bake them.

About once a year I get real hungry for a spam sandwich. I cut it thin and fry it in butter. Lightly toast some good bread. Slather with Mayo and a thin sliced onion. Place 4 or 5 slices of fried Spam on the bread and enjoy with a cold one.

Chopped some up last night and added it to a Tomestone Supreme pizza. Wife and kid never noticed it. Makes great omlets too.

What the hells up with SPAM? I had a can in my pantry, broke it out a week ago to have it. First thing I noticed that the can no longer has the little key thingie (You can tell its been a while since I had SPAM!), its some sort of easy open crap...

Then I noticed...none of that nasty clear gelatin shit that used to be in with it.

So cut it up and fried it up....it wasn't so good....the texture seemd kind of mushy from what I remember, iy just didn't taste the same as I remember it...

Am I wrong here?

I went shopping with the wife yesterday and saw bacon flavored spam. She saw me drooling over it and bought me a can. This thread reminded me of it and now I'm gonna fry some up!

My wife and I ate fried spam sandwiches yesterday. It had been at least 10 years since I ate the stuff. Needless to say it kicked ass.

Is there much spam in that?
Link Posted: 1/21/2006 1:58:28 PM EDT
My old man used to love that stuff. Slice it thin and fry it in a pan. I would eat it but it wasn't something I was crazy about. Every now and then I get the taste for some but I don't buy it so I haven't had it in years. How much is a can of Spam now?

Spam samiches are some fine eatin', We had a Capt. on the Fire dept. that used to cook soda cracker soup, Gallon of milk, box of crackers, and 2 cans of spam-diced, he made it as a joke when we would get a rookie, it scared the shit out of them, but they usually liked it, I always did, I was single then, and a six pack, and beenie weenies, was my normal dinner on my off days, so anything was good.... by the way, I'm watching my girlfriend, who is wearing short shorts, cooking chickum and dumplins, what a site! sorry no pics. goin.....as pay back, and that is better than spam or chicken and dumplins... after cops is over, and the dumplins settle of course Perfect Sat. night!

No, you're right. Absolutely right. You have reached that point in life where everything has gone to hell in a handbasket, everyone is taking shortcuts, nobody has any pride or concern for doing the right thing, and people in general are lazy bastards looking for the easy way out. In six months - a year, tops - you will be posting about Arthur Godfrey and pre-corn syrup Coke, plastic being substituted for sheet metal in non-load-bearing applications, composite materials ("Cardboard! Friggin' Cardboard!) being substituted for plastic, and the substitution of Domican 8th Graders for 17 year-old Vietnamese girls at the massage parlors. The scales have been lifted from your eyes. You are now a documenter of entropy at work in our society. It's a dirty job, but it has to be done.

In October, 2006, you will post a long and scholarly essay on Estes Kefauver, closing with the rhetorical question "Why can't America produce men like him, now that we need them most?"

Welcome to the club.

Spam doesn't open with the key anymore? That was half the fun! When did they stop doing that?

My mom would slice it up thin and fry it. She'd usually pop open a can when she'd cooked a lot of veggies for supper but no meat dish so that my dad and I could have some meat with the meal. Pretty decent stuff, but not award-winning or anything. And you get sick of it really fast if you eat too much.

The Spam Sketch from the second series of "Monty Python's Flying Circus" and
"Monty Python's Previous Record"

Scene: A cafe. One table is occupied by a group of Vikings with horned
helmets on. A man and his wife enter.

Man (Eric Idle): You sit here, dear.
Wife (Graham Chapman in drag): All right.
Man (to Waitress): Morning!
Waitress (Terry Jones, in drag as a bit of a rat-bag): Morning!
Man: Well, what've you got?
Waitress: Well, there's egg and bacon; egg sausage and bacon; egg and spam;
egg bacon and spam; egg bacon sausage and spam; spam bacon sausage
and spam; spam egg spam spam bacon and spam; spam sausage spam spam
bacon spam tomato and spam;
Vikings (starting to chant): Spam spam spam spam...
Waitress: ...spam spam spam egg and spam; spam spam spam spam spam spam baked
beans spam spam spam...
Vikings (singing): Spam! Lovely spam! Lovely spam!
Waitress: ...or Lobster Thermidor a Crevette with a mornay sauce served in a
Provencale manner with shallots and aubergines garnished with
truffle pate, brandy and with a fried egg on top and spam.
Wife: Have you got anything without spam?
Waitress: Well, there's spam egg sausage and spam, that's not got much spam in
it.
Wife: I don't want ANY spam!
Man: Why can't she have egg bacon spam and sausage?
Wife: THAT'S got spam in it!
Man: Hasn't got as much spam in it as spam egg sausage and spam, has it?
Vikings: Spam spam spam spam (crescendo through next few lines)
Wife: Could you do the egg bacon spam and sausage without the spam then?
Waitress: Urgghh!
Wife: What do you mean 'Urgghh'? I don't like spam!
Vikings: Lovely spam! Wonderful spam!)
Waitress: Shut up!
Vikings: Lovely spam! Wonderful spam!
Waitress: Shut up! (Vikings stop) Bloody Vikings! You can't have egg bacon
spam and sausage without the spam.
Wife (shrieks): I don't like spam!
Man: Sshh, dear, don't cause a fuss. I'll have your spam. I love it.
I'm having spam spam spam spam spam spam spam beaked beans spam spam
spam and spam!
Vikings (singing): Spam spam spam spam. Lovely spam! Wonderful spam!
Waitress: Shut up!! Baked beans are off.
Man: Well could I have her spam instead of the baked beans then?
Waitress: You mean spam spam spam spam spam spam... (but it is too late and
the Vikings drown her words)
Vikings (singing elaborately): Spam spam spam spam. Lovely spam! Wonderful
spam! Spam spa-a-a-a-a-am spam spa-a-a-a-a-am spam. Lovely spam!
Lovely spam! Lovely spam! Lovely spam! Lovely spam! Spam spam
spam spam!
