During the briefing, the NIS, cited studies on past North Korean provocations and other unspecified assessments and said the attacks could target anti-Pyongyang activists, defectors and government officials in South Korea, the Saenuri official said requesting anonymity because he wasn't authorized to speak to media publicly. View Quote Attacks on subways, shopping malls and other public places could also happen, he said. The official quoted the NIS as saying North Korea could launch poisoning attacks on the activists and defectors, or lure them to China where they would be kidnapped. Before you just write this off as just another example of Best Korea wanting attention, it's obvious that the US is taking this pretty seriously because they just flew a bunch of F-22's over South Korea as a show of force just today. |

Sooooooooo.....it is a day ending with a y again? Hopefully the South Koreans are building up their military and ready to fight the Norks on their own.

Save the F-22s and stage some B-1s / B-52s if you want a more effective asset. |

View Quote I would laugh, but at this point in time the North Korean space program is light years ahead of Canada's, so I guess they have that. |

And the right wil eat this up as a reason to deepen our national debt by spending more money on the military, especially the fighter pilots club.

View Quote I'm of the opinion that if the Norks invaded the south they would be attempting to use fighters and bombers in a one-way mission against targets in South Korea, in which case F-22s make far more sense than B-1s/B-52s. |

Maybe we will restart Garand production as a throw back to that era.

Any of our resident mil experts care to explain how things go if they really do get froggy? (besides "we bomb them to death" or "Obama writes a letter of apology" or whatever other not funny nonsense usually gets posted).
What is our likely step by step response if the Norks line up everything they have and head south across the DMZ? Or, unlikely as it may be, manage to light off some third - world grade canned sunshine over Seoul? |

They heard the dirt and grass in S. Korea has better nutritional content, and the animal carcasses have more fat to render off.

I have no doubts they will be able to destroy the north. The US is there to keep the scales well tipped in the South's favor. The South has been ready to respond with increasing violence to northern aggression and have been talked down by the US. The South is sick of the north's shit and doesn't like being pushed around. |

View Quote Wouldn't call myself a 'mil expert' by any stretch, but it seems to me that the SKs can handle most of the fighting, and the US role would mostly be airpower during the opening exchanges. Lots of artillery that needs to be destroyed ASAP, and the more fighters there are flying sorties, the faster it gets done, and the fewer civilians get pasted/slimed. |

If we drop bags of rice and canned food the war will end in 2 days.

We should drop lots of old cellphones so they can get video of the war.

It's February circus, they have track record every February of doing something, winter is hard for them every year.

It makes sense if the north attacked the south I doubt we would do anything. They have nukes and are probably willing to use them.

The North has conducted many attacks on the South. Countless kidnappings and artillery attacks but also https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_House_Raid
They are well aware that the South, and by extension the US,have to practice much more restraint. |

Yeah, the North is always talking a good game it seems. But I recall that the North seemed pretty damn frightened last year when it appeared the South was prepared to mobilize and steamroll their worthless asses during the landmine/loud speaker broadcast crisis.
