Man it's amazing how many times you can hear a song and still find something new in it. I'm not a big Eagles fan, but have probably heard the song "life in the fast lane" more times than I'd care to. Mainly because the radio stations around here suck, and the new rock/classic rock mix stations are the most tolerable to listen to at work. Anyway, I've recently noticed a line in that song in between the first chorus and second verse where he says "are you with me so far?". I can't freaken believe that as many times as I've heard that song (which has to be at least 20,000 times from the time I was born till now) I've NEVER caught that little line. Also it has been pointed out to me that one of the first lines that was previously impossible to make out in the Aerosmith song "walk this way" is "she was a real young bleeder". So what songs have you heard a bunch and just out of nowhere either heard a part you never heard before, or realized what the hell the person was actually saying? And for our SNL fans out there, I swear that song "blinded by the light" does go as follows.. "held up like a loofa by the foreman of the night"

My favorite is Bryan Adams' "Summer of '69". At the very end, as it's fading out, he sings, "Me and my baby, doin' sixty-nine!" Yeah, baby!

I had heard "King of Pain" by the police dozens of times over years and years before I figured out they were saying "That's my soul up there."

Here's a few lines from a cute little ditty that used to be real popular and I think it's making a comeback, (I think the artist's name was "Snoop Puffy-T" or something like that.) [i]I got my black shirt on. I got my black gloves on. I got my ski mask on. This shit's been too long. I got my twelve gauge sawed off. I got my headlights turned off. I'm 'bout to bust some shots off. I'm 'bout to dust some cops off. Cop killer, better you than me. Cop killer, f**k police brutality! Cop killer, I know your family's grievin' (f**k 'em) Cop killer, but tonight we get even. I got my brain on hype. Tonight'll be your night. I got this long-assed knife, and your neck looks just right. My adrenaline's pumpin'. I got my stereo bumpin'. I'm 'bout to kill me somethin' A pig stopped me for nuthin'! Cop killer, better you than me. Cop killer, f**k police brutality! Cop killer, I know your mama's grievin' (f**k her) Cop killer, but tonight we get even. Die, die, die pig, die! F**k the police! F**k the police yeah! F**k the police! F**k the police, break it down. F**k the police, yeah. F**k the police, for Darryl Gates. F**k the police, for Rodney King. F**k the police, for my dead homies. F**k the police, for your freedom. F**k the police, don't be a pussy. F**k the police, have some muthaf**kin' courage. F**k the police, sing along. Cop killer! Cop killer! "Blinded by the Light" by Manfred Mann from The Roaring Silence (c) 1976 lyrics by Bruce Springsteen Chorus: Blinded by the light Wrapped up like a deuce Another runner in the night Blinded by the light Wrapped up like a deuce Another runner in the night Blinded by the light Wrapped up like a deuce Another runner in the night (fading) Madman drummers bummers, Indians in the summer, With a teenager diplomat In the dumps with the mumps As the adolescent pumps his way into his hat With a boulder my shoulder, feeling kinda older, I tripped the merry-go-round With this very unpleasin', sneezin' and wheezin, the calliope crashed to the ground (pickup) the calliope crashed to the ground (chorus) Some silicon sister with a manager mister told me I got what it takes. She said I'll turn you on sonny to something strongplay the song with the funky break And go-cart Mozart was checkin' out the weather charts see if it was safe outside And little Early Pearly came by in her curly-wurly and asked me if i needed a ride (pickup) asked me if i needed a ride (chorus) Bridge: She got down but she never got tight She's gonna make it to the night She's gonna make it through the night (break with soul-stirring solo) Oh momma that's where the fun is But momma that's where the fun is Momma always told me not to look in the eye of the sun But momma that's where the fun is (chop sticks variation) Some brimestone-baritone, anti-cyclone Rolling Stone Preacher from the East, says dethrone the dictaphone, hit it in its funny bone that's where they expect it least It's a new mown chaperone standing in the corner watching the young girls dance and some fresh sown moonstone messing with his frozen zone, only reminding him of romance (pickup) and the calliope crashed to the ground (Chorus) (Chorus and First Verse) Now Scott with the sling-shot finally found a tender spot and throws his lover in the sand and some blood-shot forget-me-not said daddy's within ear shot save the buckshot, turn up the band (repeat Verse 2 "Silicon sister with a manager....") (bridge)

What does "wrapped up like a deuce" mean anyway? I'm a Bruce fan, and it has always bothered me.

You are right, that dumb song "Cop Killer" was by Ice-T. Ironically, he has played a cop numerous times including on the show Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.

Yes, fronting a side-band called Body Count. I only know this because I bought a copy of the original album just before they pulled them all and replaced them with censored versions. At the time I thought it might become a collector's item someday. Now I realize it is just a coaster. Funny how Ice-T seems to be making a lot of money playing "motha-fvckin'" cops in movies now.

Warren Zevon's "Exciteable Boy" was always something I'd turn up when it came on in the car, and I had downloaded it in the past, but lost it. I downloaded it again recently, and actually listened to the words for once... big difference! Still a fun song, though...
