It's and OK shoot. A good shoot would have been two, great shoot would have been all three.

(this was already in my facebook feed, but thanks for the direct link)

Sounds like it could have gotten really ugly. You'd think eventually these thugs would start to think twice about home invasions, esp. in a heavily armed state.

How can you be an "alleged" intruder while lying dead on the kitchen floor?
Link Posted: 10/4/2014 9:29:24 AM EST
Good. Hope the cops find the other two.
Link Posted: 10/4/2014 9:29:33 AM EST
Deputies did not provide a detailed description of the suspects, only saying that they were heard speaking Spanish as they entered the home.

Pretty simple math right there.
Good Shoot!

The family, which owns a construction business, told investigators it was the first time they had ever been burglarized.

That was a robbery, not a burglary.

Make your adversary advance through a wall of lead.

Good strategy on the resident's part.

Really hardened criminals aren't deterred much...they accept the fact that they might get shot and killed.
However they do a bit of risk analysis and try to minimize the risk of being killed.

You'd think these stupid asses would learn....someone else shot really near there 3 years ago and killed on a home invansion..

Family still has their farm there.

Owns a construction company?

Chances they've hired these 3 individuals and paid cash off the books at some point is greater than zero.

Just robbing the houses Americans won't rob

If you enter a structure with the intent to commit an offense, it's a burglary. The intended offense may be theft, robbery, rape, or what have you.

Interdasting, I didn't know that.

I always thought: unoccupied house = burglary, occupied house=robbery/home invasion.

Does the lingo vary from state to state?

Also, good shoot.

And I believe when LE catches the other 2, they can be charged w/ murder, right?

I like this line from the article:

"The son wasted no time in shooting and killing one of the suspects."

Yeah... so he din do nada.

Not a lot to go on in that story. No description of the any of the criminals for one, but "alleged" intruder? Wearing masks? At 0430? I'd say in those circumstances the news people should be allowed to be a bit judgmental. Not like it's likely they were invited in for tea and a nice biscuit.

My wife knows someone through work who's family was the victim of a home invasion.

(the father owned a business and, inadvisedly, would sometimes bring cash home overnight before depositing).

The robbers cased the place. The guy's daughter spent the night, which she usually didn't do.

She startled the robbers because they weren't expecting her and hadn't accounted for her when rounding up the family.

She was shot and killed.

The rest of the family survived.

Probably. Seems like most states follow the same verbiage and just add an enhancement if they intend to commit another felony other than the burglary itself.

I guess the son didn't watch NBC's home invasion survival tips segment:

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2014/09/13/nbcs-advice-for-dealing-with-a-home-invasion-wasp-spray-and-car-alarms-no-mention-of-guns/

"Should a beeping car alarm or wasp spray fail to prevent a home invasion, the NBC report suggests being polite and directing the bad guys to your cash and valuables. The former detective told Rossen, “You want to treat them like royalty.” He added, “On top of that, you don’t want to lie to them.”"

Has Holder checked in yet?

Good deal!
Between this and the Houston bar shooting the other night the bad guys are getting what they deserve.

Sounds like a good shoot, but why would 3 masked and armed men drive into a lower income neighborhood and target a family like this?

It doesn't make sense. But then again, crooks is dumb. I'll be interested to learn of the motive in this case. Keep us posted if you hear anything more OP.
Link Posted: 10/5/2014 9:35:46 AM EST
Actually not a " burglarized " event or a robbery.

Should be called what it is , an Invasion .

No telling what the bad guys intent was. Nor how far they intended to go.

I'd guess they knew / worked for / were told about the guy owns a construction company...

Depending on how legal is workers are, he may keep a fair amount of cash on hand.

Bingo. Also could have employed illegals in debt to coyotes. And they were living there.
