I think that might have been me. Had a customer of mine that was having that problem and they couldn't catch whoever it was. He went and bought a new mail box and took the old one and banged it out as much as he could, then filled it with cement.
Then he took two long bolts and ran them through the post and through the bottom of the mail box with some wing nuts to hold the new mail box in place. For two nights in a row he went out and took his new mailbox off and mounted the cement filled one, and put the new one back on in the morning before he went to work after the first night.
They caught the kids after the police checked the local hospital and found that a group of kids had come in early in the a.m., one of which had been treated for a broken arm.
Not really sure how this guy didn't get any charges pressed against him for filling the mailbox with cement, but it's something you might want to think about before doing. The county he lives in is rural and I'm thinkng the LEO's figured, "Hey, if they hadn't been out bashing mail boxes, which is illegal, he wouldn't have gotten a broken arm."
However, in other places he might have been the one charged with a crime!
BTW, I'm 99% certain he did this because when I went to place the bag of soot in tha back of his pickup with the rest of the trash he was going to take to the dump that day, the cement filled mailbox laying in the back of it!
