This storm wasn't as bad as the one in December 07. During that one I didn't have power for a whole week and the tree branches breaking sounded like gunshots. There was an inch of ice covering everything. This time there is only about a cm of ice on the trees, so most of them are doing fine.
I don't want to de-ice my car or bike so I'm staying in today.

Am I correct? I grew up in NE Oklahoma. My Parents and Brother still live around Tulsa. I spoke to them on Sunday and they said it was not expected to be anywhere near as bad as Nov. 2007. My Parents were without power for almost 4 weeks from the '07 Storm. One thing I do not miss from OK is the Icy Winters. Snow I can handle but the Ice Storms suck. OK is just far enough south that it always seems to be on that line between Rain and Snow that produces Ice anytime a Cold Front moves through. |

I'm from KS and we don't normally get freezing rain up there, although it has happened before. And someone in my apartment complex has a BFL sticker... |
