Well, came across a painted turtle today, not much to see, same old boring turtle, but I decided to play with my 150mm macro lens a bit...

Here are some of the Mosquitoes that were dining on some turtle blood.

This picture is slightly out of focus, but you can clearly see there is a blood sucking Mite on the head of mosquito.  One blood sucker sucking the blood of another blood sucker.

My setup is a Nikon D300s with a Sigma 150mm Macro lens, 1:1 ratio with additional 30mm extension tube (so like 1.3:1) and a cheapo Vivitar flash.

Simply outstanding. I know little of photography but I am always impressed at the detail of these kinds of pictures.

Nice Work

That picture of the spider is amazing.
Right place, at the right time, with the right equipment.

Tell me about it!  Right as I sat down to take pictures of the fly, the spider came out of nowhere and grabbed it.  Had I been a few seconds earlier, I could have gotten the action sequence.  Oh well.

Thank God bugs are the size they are. Can you imagine one of those even if it only weighed 1lb?

One attempt at manual image stacking, two different focal points in one picture.  It's an interesting picture, but not one of my personal favorites because of a focal point 'anomaly'.

Figured I'd share it regardless, kudos for when you find out where the Harvestman moved and totally fucked both shots.

Nice work.  I've never had great luck with image stacking but it looks like you did a great job there.  I love extension tubes by the way.  Even without a dedicated macro lens, they can turn just about any lens into a whole other tool.
