Sold my 04 Discovery II Rover today.  Was a little sad to see her go.  Many camping trips, brought my son home from the hospital in it 9 years ago.  But the thing I'll miss the most is pulling out my friends Hemi's and F150 from the mud/sand :).  Luckily she went to a good home and is getting restored, something I was in the middle of.

Disco 2s are cool. Loved mine and never had an issue with it.

That said, the knee room in the front was absolute shit.

How were the electronics/electrical?  Wanted to buy one as a daily driver to spare my Defender 90, but was scared off by their "iffy" reputation.  Looking to G4 a LR-3 instead.

I have some relatives who had one. It gave them all sorts of trouble, but damn was it a cool ride.

I was lucky with the electrical but I had the valve rebuild and coolant system rebuilt at 80K.  Otherwise it was great.

Yes, the legroom was my biggest complaint, if it would have just gone back a few more inches it would have been perfect.  Only affected me on long trips though.

I had a Disco I, loved it.

Gave me less trouble than the K1500 I owned of the same era

I picked up an '04, pulled the heads to do headgaskets, sent the heads out, got one head on, performing final torque on second head's bolts I found out someone put a helicoil in the block.
So it sits while I decide if it's worth getting a time-sert kit, ARP head studs and finishing it up.

The rover disco's were the British version of a 4door CJ (if they existed) with leather.

My Disco I is an awesome camp vehicle. And the story still blows cold as hell!  Just about impossible to get stuck. The one time was when I tried to stop on the "dry" leaves, etc.  yeah, it was floating ontop of some swampy shit.

Got rid of my '97 Disco 6 years ago and even though it was a frustrating POS at times, I was sad to see it go, and still miss it.

Yep, I drove across many Florida swamps in it while camping, I don't know if it was the ground clearance or what, but it would just keep rolling long after my friends vehicles just got their axles below the mud...

I love our TD5 Disco II. I'm sorry you've lost yours.

I miss our TDi 300 Disco 1, but at least the Land Rover mechanic who bought it is restoring it for going on central Australia trips.

Lol, the purchaser made it from Orlando to Jacksonville with no probs.  The valve job really gave it back some oomph.

My best friend put his 2001 Disco up for sale last week. Told my friend about it and she bought it for her son.  It's in near perfect condition and a great runner.

I had a 2001 Disco for about 8 years. It never left me down and all I did was basic maintenance which was easy. It never saw a shop outside of getting my driveshaft updated.  My only mistake was trading it in for a later model Range Rover, which was a huge piece of shit. That's gone now.

Now my only Land Rover is a 95 RR classic, rust free,  so I'm going to sit in it for awhile.

I thought I was supposed to stay away from these. Like they always break down and stuff.  On paper I love Land Rovers. How are the new ones. Aren't they coming out with a convertible?

Garbage asss shitboxes.....blown two head gaskets and 2 radiators in the first 20 k miles.

Lemon ass POS, Land Rover should be banned cause they are obviously a rip off POS.

If rovers had a son it was stink like Obamas asshole or that ugly wife of his

I kind of did some "customizing" to it when I first got it about 7 years ago.  The roof had a lot of clear coat peel and looked pretty rough so I said "what the hell. Hold my beer.."

Edit: I see you're in NC. I bought it in Raleigh. It had 173,000 miles on it. Flew down there and drove it home, 800 miles, with an an exhaust leak and unknown maintenance. I don't know if I'm dumb, ballsy or both but it made it to my garage where I could work on it.

I would but the frame has some rather impressive holes.  The ones in New England being sold for parts aren't selling.

I had a 95 RRC that I paid less than 2k for. Kept it a couple years to play with. Was a cool, but frustrating vehicle. Sold it for what I paid, but I wish I'd just kept it.

That said, my 03 Land Cruiser is still chugging along problem free with 215k miles.
