In instances where either force was used, or the experience was considered to have been "unpleasant" on my part, the individual detained displayed one, or several of the following characteristics:
A total lack of respect for authority
Failure to follow the officer’s commands and/or orders
No knowledge of the law (either vehicle code, penal code or other local ordinance)
No understanding of department policy
There is no respect for any one, badge wearing, gun carrying or not in today's society. Seven year old kids will flip off an adult and swear at them like a drunk sailor at the drop of a hat.
Failure to follow orders like wise. They don't listen to their parents, school teachers, or parole agents so why would they listen to cop pointing a pistol at them?
Law, why would anyone care what the law is? Broken tail lights, no plates, expired tags, and failing to stop at stop signs are all excuses the "man" uses to stop who ever they want.
Police policy changes with the tide and even I don't know what the policy on anything is here in the 10th city I've lived in in 15 years.
I do however follow the first three principles so don't really need to know the fourth.
