...and they probably all vote democrat.

http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/susan-jones/ig-audit-65-million-people-active-social-security-numbers-are-112-or-older

Many people are living longer, but not to age 112 or beyond -- except in the records of the Social Security Administration.

The SSA's inspector general has identified 6.5 million number-holders age 112 -- or older -- for whom no death date has been entered in the main electronic file, called Numident.

The audit, dated March 4, 2015, concluded that SSA lacks the controls necessary to annote death information on the records of number-holders who exceed "maximum reasonable life expectancies."

"We obtained Numident data that identified approximately 6.5 million numberholders born before June 16, 1901 who did not have a date of death on their record," the report states.

Some of the numbers assigned to long-dead people were used fraudulently to open bank accounts.

And thousands of those numbers apparently were used by illegal immigrants to apply for work...

And I am betting that at least 8.7 % of those millions of decrepit 112 year old geezers would be able to hot link that article.

(I am apparently also quite decrepit this morning...damn time change!)

.......and still getting checks.

You bunch of ageists. The lot of you. Bigoted, hate-mongering ageists.
Link Posted: 3/9/2015 3:52:11 PM EDT
So, what's stopping them from issuing a blanket blacklist to all of those 6.5million numbers? Any accounts associated with the number are now suspended, etc.

Would such a thing be possible?
Link Posted: 3/9/2015 3:52:18 PM EDT
So.. did I make it in before ACORN mistakenly got sent the list apology?
Link Posted: 3/9/2015 3:52:29 PM EDT
Pretty damn easy to fix this. Stop all SS checks every 3 months. Need to reapply in person (ie submit paper work, already previously approved) for the next season.

No families milking a dead family member. No checks going unclaimed (not that this is a bad thing). Each time they show up to reapply is another chance to weed down the list.

Are there not addresses on their income taxes, employment verification forms, etc?

It would make too much sense to start shutting these down, and rounding them up wouldnt it???

Why should they care about how they throw around your money?

Half are probably being used by our "citizens in waiting" (IE illegals.)

Because 6 of them are still alive?

And some people die and their family bury them in the swamp so they can keep getting their SS in a checking account.
There were hundreds missing in NOLA during Katrina that were never found. Many of them had already been dead for years.
Can people do this for several decades?
Knowing how inept our government bureaucrats are in some areas, probably!
Link Posted: 3/9/2015 4:29:59 PM EDT
The .gov knew this long before march 4th. They did not do anything about it then, nor will they now.

They WANT those illegals to use those numbers. They need those illegals to keep their control.

Possible? Probably, but the administration doesn't want to upset "dreamers" and their democrat donors.

Maybe it is just me but given the advances in computers now-a-days we could whip this shit right now.
All Death certs are done on computer which update the federal database.
This database is cross linked with SSA as well as the disability side of it.
Since all of our medical info is on computers this could also be linked in.

Wa-La instant fraud detection.
I know there are few other DB's out these but you get the idea.

6,500,000 people at an average of $17,000 a year in Social Security benefit payments = $110,500,000,000. So, that's about 110 billion in benefits that are still being paid out. No fucking wonder SSI is having issues.

There seems to be a discrepancy in the numbers.

What would be the cause of 6.5M people not accounted for? Bigfeet eating them out of the forest? MIA troops? Missing persons?

That sounds great... until some idiot fat fingers the data entry on someone's death cert and YOU show up as deaded instead of the dead guy. Try getting that fixed.

Since there's no incentive for family members to report the deaths of their elderly relatives to SSA (perish the thought, but some of them might be tempted to keep cashing the checks of the deceased), we need to rely on funeral homes to do so. Provide a small funeral benefit, so that funeral homes have an incentive to report. This would save a lot of money in the long run.

When word of this got around, some families might decide to bypass funeral homes entirely, and bury the oldsters in the back yard...

Somebody, err somebodies and their political friends are milking a lot of money out of the system for profit and kickbacks.

Between this and SSNs used to file fraudulent tax returns, the amount of money and the numbers of "people" involved are more then enough to fund candidates and shape elections.
But the whole idea is tinfoil nonsense and any thought of investigation would be somehow racist or discriminatory.

Reminds me of the Japanese family that never reported that their relation was deceased. It was an easy way to supplement their income.

When my grandmother died and a SSI check came, I marked the enveloped, "Deceased. Return to Sender" and sent it back.

Meh.

They use the same .gov system as the BATFE uses to track machine guns.

It was invented by the Birth Certificate Office in Hawaii .

I don't think the danger of cutting off people that are actually alive is so great.....

...because once they're cut off, at least you'll hear from them.

Now as far as the 6.5+ million over 112, not so much - (unless they show up to vote D, of course).

Sounds like a win to me.

The question is whether the administration is incompetent, corrupt, or both.

The answer is "yes", though I'm leaning more towards corrupt than incompetent.
