The deadline this year is Tuesday April 18.
Who all is waiting until the last minute? As for me, I got them done well ahead of time, about 30 minutes ago. |
|
Dumb soon to be ex wife didnt give me her tax shit, and filed single through turbo tax. The software dinged her for the obummercare fine. Something to the tune of $1000.I tried to tell her she needed to do shit manually to not pay it, but being the stubborn dumbass she is, she filed and is paying the fine.

I only finished them earlier today. So yea, they'll be postmarked tomorrow.
|
|
Finished mine a couple months ago, but I didn't schedule them to take payment until now. They won't get my money until the absolute last second.

I filed for automatic extension on friday. My 2nd largest source of contract work for 2016 still had not provided documentation.
Oh - it finally arrived in 4/16 mail. Upon reviewing it with my own records it claims I was paid 142% more than the sum of the payments I actually received. In the last 8 months the number of "totally WTF?" issues that have happened with this company has really gotten out of hand. Me thinks they are about to get fired because it isn't worth the extra BS factor, unless I raise my base rate by at least 300%. I'm soooo close to just doing a document dump to the CO Dept of Revenue. They will strip the business to the bone like a school of Piranhas if they smell tax fraud ( Not paying full tribute to the state.) |
|
I've filed on the day of or day before the deadline a few times, but got mine done early (week and a half ago) this year. Did state by hand because fuck paying another $40. Got rejected for incorrect math (that the form did for me) and had to re-submit a couple days later. Glad I didn't wait longer. Do you get a penalty if you file on the last day and get rejected?
|
|
Im always late, once did them in october. My accountant does them. L
|
|
Meh, no one needs that much info about me.
But yep, sent checks in a couple days ago. |
|
Spent the last two days finishing mine and then the program wouldn't let me file electronically so it'll go in the mail today. |

I did mine last week. I knew I was going to pay but didn't want to wait to the exact last minute to submit them just in case they got rejected. |

The Tulsa downtown post office used to do a thing where they stayed open until midnight on April 15th.
The local news channel would be there. The post office employees handed out hot chocolate and donuts...it was a party. I saved all my one-penny postage stamps one year and plastered them all over the front and back of my envelope to the IRS. One of the postmasters was laughing his ass off while he hand-cancelled each and every one the stamps and stuck it in the bag. ...they quit doing that years ago. |

View Quote I never wait until the last moment - my accountant probably filed an extension the first day he could Not really rich enough to need an accountant, just decided to get one when I started renting the house I couldn't sell when moving (US mil). His paperwork got me about 6k more in return than the one I did, so I've used him ever since. Now, with 2 houses being depreciated for between 5 and 8 years, I CAN'T leave him until those houses are sold (no idea how much depreciation has been done on them). I usually get right on the tax paperwork and get it off to him promptly at the end of August... Mike |

Submitted last night.
Getting back 4 grand, which was unexpected. I usually try to get about a $1000 refund. |

I filed mine last night.

Filed mine on Feb 1
Gotta do it early to get in before the scammers submit fake returns using your numbers. |

I got my direct deposit tax refund back in February. Don't understand all this procrastination BS.

If today is anything like yesterday, I'm going to be up to my eyeballs in W2's, 1099-R's, and other tax forms. (I do taxes for a living.) Yesterday, I worked from 9 to 9 and barely had time to grab lunch, which I had to scarf down between clients over the course of a couple hours. Today, I'm scheduled to be open 9 am to 10pm, and I doubt I'll have time for anything more than a snack or two throughout the day.
For me, this time of year is the time I get to see clients I like. The ones who come in earliest in the season are most often the takers, who can't wait to get their $7,000 "refunds" from the $10,000 they earned during the previous year, or the ones who undoubtedly lie about their "self-employment income" so they can get money for not having really worked at all. The people who file at the last minute are usually the ones who've been busting their asses for decades, making decent money, and end up having to support the clients I see in January and February. (Mind you, not all of the early filers are welfare leeches. Some are actually working, but can't seem to get ahead. Unfortunately, the leeches seem to outnumber the good ones, and they are the ones most vocal about "getting back their money.") |

The Feds and state withdrew their money from my account this morning.

Same. Preparing for anus-rape when they see my check is $1500 short of what I owe them. Oh, well, I simply don't have the whole amount. Time to sell a guitar.

Did mine back in February. I will grill out tonight in honor of those that are trying to squeak one in before the buzzer.

All of you still using TurboTax need to look at H&R Block SW. It has been a smooth sail for me three years in a row and it is cheaper.
I did mine on Friday and just kept kicking up the IRA contribution until my taxes equaled zero. It kept going and I am getting over $400 back which is rare for me. Then I had to go to the bank Saturday to actually make that IRA contribution. Looks like them Larue parts are now paid for. |

I actually believed when I was younger that no matter when you did your taxes, we all got our refunds at the same time after April 15th.
This is the first year I was informed and filed them the 2nd week of January. Live and learn |

I owed this year ($86). So, I waited until last night to file.
I had 'em done almost two months ago. But, when I found out I owed money, I said fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck that-----------YOU'RE WAITING!!!!! |
|
Normally the people that owe wait till the last min. Mailing out today

Finished mine in Feb. It's more of an incentive when you're getting a little back.
|

Prepared mine back in February but didn't submit it until this past Sunday because, as usual, I owe money. The good news is I was only $733 off with my quarterly payments compared to the prior year where I was off by $2,800. In my defense, I took a rather large contract job on in December 2015 and it was one of those pay by the hour things. Rather than adjusting my final quarterly payment accordingly, I opted to pay the tax due with my income tax return. My main goal is to pay enough throughout the year to avoid the underpayment penalty!

I did mine a couple months ago but I didn't pay what I owed until today. I guess the bastards didn't draw enough blood throughout the year.

Filed last night
Was holding out on a K1 that didn't arrive so I'm going to need to do an amendment later |

I honestly don't understand why people don't get violent over this shit. If the government doesn't know how much they should be getting from me, they shouldn't be entitled to any of it. |
