My brother owns several rental houses and he went to check one out a few weeks ago after a group of college guys vacated. He went in the backyard and there is a full-grown healthy potbellied pig sitting there smiling at him along with a cage and a 25 lb bag of dog food He pondered this for a moment since he has new renters showing up in a couple of days. Said pig was put in his cage and loaded up. My brother and his friend are supposed to meet me to go fishing so they stopped by a friend of our's house and leave it on the front porch in a residential neighborhood while the guy is at work They're telling me about it when they show up at the coast and I'm thinking about this poor pig laughing my ass of of course.

About a week ago I saw the guy that received the pig and it took everything I had not to ask about it but he finally says "guess what the hell I found on my porch the other day". He tells me about finding it and for a happy ending after a few days he took it out to his uncle's farm. I made an effort to look the other day while driving by  and the pig was standing in the middle of a nice fenced in  field next to a Llama and some Rhea's . We figured they would eat it, you never know, they may just be fattening him up.

One of the most difficult things I ever did was shoot a "pet" pig because the owner couldn't do it. He had raised him from a piglet in his backyard and when it came time to process him for meat my friend sat there with a .44 magnum aimed at the pig's head for a few minutes and he just couldn't do it. It was hard to pull that trigger since I had known Chops (the pig) since he was little as well but I have to admit he tasted pretty good. Poor guy nudging his snout up at you looking for an ear of corn

I have 160 acres. I always wanted to hunt wild boar so I would have released it and started a herd.

With our wild hog situation around here a tame potbellied pet wouldn't be very sporting I know the guy's uncle, he has fallow deer, Llama, Rhea's, a water buffalo, goats, cows. Wound up in a good home but I secretly think my brother knew that would happen no matter how heartless he pretends to be

ETA: our friend still has no idea where the pig came from, one of will tell him sooner or later though, it's hard to keep a secret like that.

Sounds like he ended up in a good home.  Went from a suburban cage to a sunny outdoors environment.

Very lucky pig.
