I have already watched (or am watching): SG-1, Atlantis, BSG, and X-Files. I watched all of Firefly a few nights back, and think it is amazing. My buddy says that if I liked Firefly, I will also like Buffy.

So what say you? What series should I pickup next?

Third Watch

I have watched a lor of series, X-Files, JAG, The Shield, etc  but Third Watch is the best.

It is repeated on A&E on Fridays 5 episodes at a time( It was one episode a day but that changed).  It is not available on official DVD, but bootleg DVDs can be found.

I will be getting all 6 seasons from a guy in England soon for around $100

Space: Above and Beyond - sci-fi series from 1995-1996 that is very similar to the new Battlestar Galactica. Available only at Best Buy

24 - Seasons 1-3 (and soon 4). My favorite TV show of all time only slightly more so than Space: Above and Beyond. Jack Bauer is badass.

Firefly

Battlestar Galactica

Dead Like Me, seasons 1 and 2. A little cursing, (it was a Showtime series), but funny as hell. And Ellen Muth is way cute, in my opinion.

+1, especially The Wire. Takes a couple of episodes to get into it but I think it is one of the best series out right now.

Crime Story, you will recognize some things from HEAT but this is an excellent series written and starring some of the officers that worked Chicago's MCU.

Sorry man, couldn't resist...seems like folks watch a lot of TV.  I'm one of those people who has trouble sitting still even through a meal.

No harm intended...

Deadwood

The writing is amazing. Not as many shoot outs as I'd like but it blows that Rome tripe clear out of the water.

Got the boxset and have watched it several imes........... especially good with a few beers and the guys round..........

George: Oh, sir, just one thing - if we should happen to tread on a mine, what do we do?

Blackadder: Well, normal procedure, Lieutenant, is to jump 200 feet into the air and scatter yourself over a wide area.

Edit: Medium Season 2 starts 10pm tonight..........

Cool Thanks! (Tomislav, sorry for the hijack) I usually watch it after 24 sooo I had no idea it was starting up again.
Tomislav, it's a good show to start on
On another note, new show that I am quite hooked on is HOUSE (Fox Tuesday nites)
Superior writing and acting all wround: Good ol' fashioned medical show with a twist: a doctor that tells people he hates them (in a very witty way) just before curing them

Twin Peaks , if you've never seen it...  (DO NOT watch the movie Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me until you've watched the series; better yet, skip it altogether )

...BTVS, of the ones you listed.

ETA:  Also, The Prisoner is now on DVD (if you haven't seen it)

Alright, here are my suggestions....

Space, Above and Beyond....definitely, I need to go out and get this myself. Lots of guns, space craft and killing....how can you go wrong?

Millenium....spooky, weird series, I have all three seasons on DVD, I love it.

Crime Story....excellent work from Michael Mann, lots of actors from the Michael Mann stock company, familiar faces from Miami Vice, Manhunter, etc. Dennis Farina got his start here, he retired from the Chicago MCU to be in it. He is the real deal with many years as a cop...The second and final season should be out by Christmas...

NYPD Blue...big fan, have both seasons so far released, season 3 should be out in early '06....

What??????  NO 24??????????????????????????

24 is excellent if you have a week or two off work to watch a full series........... I almost lost my job over the fecker (just one more hour, just one more hour).

Millennium was Wheey cool when it was running but ran out of............................. everything at the end of Season 3!

Ditto for Space, Above and Beyond!

Unless someone over the pond is going to tell me there are further episodes in the planning?..... Please!

The second season of Crime Story is out now, the other nice thing about Crime Story is that there are only two seasons so it is not that bad to buy the whole series.
