I don't get why ICE doesn't just go to his office and arrest him? It's not like he is hiding!

That's just in CA right?

ETA. What does that say about the code of ethics you can expect from a CA attorney?

But the case raises many questions, particularly among those who have been critical of Garcia's efforts to practice law.

"How is Garcia supposed to uphold 'the laws of the United States' when he is, by his mere presence in this country, in violation of federal law?" CNN contributor Ruben Navarrette asks in an opinion column he wrote on the case in September. "How does he pledge to show respect for 'the courts of justice' when, for most of his life, he has lived here in defiance of the rule of law? And how can he claim that he won't 'mislead' a judge or judicial officer when living in the United States illegally requires deception on a daily basis?"

California's Supreme Court ruled Thursday that no state law or public policy should stop Garcia or others like him from obtaining a law license in the state.

Mexicans get to do what they please.

YOU get to do what you're told.

Why?

time to change a losing game. WE deserve the same deal as the Mexicans. WE should be allowed to ignore any law WE don't feel like obeying.

Mexican Rules: not just for Mexicans anymore.

They already have backroom medical clinics complete with prescription drugs smuggled across the border, might as well allow them to practice law, vote, hell even run for president while they are at it, they are already a protected class whose rights are hoisted above Americans anyway.

Pretty sure it has never been required that one be a U.S. Citizen to pass a bar exam.

Generally, one must able to lie well.  This case fits the bill perfectly then!

Let 'em pass it all day long.  No business license, no drivers license, no renting an apt or buying a house, no welfare, nada.  Demagnetize this country and we won't have to deport a single one.  Does that sound like a good policy to you?

Well they are good enough to roof your house, landscape your yard, clean your house, and watch your kids aren't they?

File this one under chickens coming home to roost. Your serf class has progressed.

Meanwhile Stephen Glass, the reporter who lied in several articles, is rejected from the bar due to a lack of ethics in an unrelated profession.

This guy breaks the law and is admitted to the bar.

Absolutely not.  Look, I'm not disagreeing with anyone's position here.  I'm just pointing out the harsh fact: laws made by lawyers for lawyers are generally advantageous to...

You guessed it.  LAWYERS!

the BAR lost to me a lot of credibility.  They used to be so strict that if you did anything wrong outside of court they could potentially suspend or pull your license.... now they are allowing law breakers.

Ladies and gentlemen of the court, I bring to you today an age old question that has confounded the minds of the greatest thinkers of the ages. Simply put, "what is the definition of legal".
17 hours later.....
In breaking news out of California, the word "legal" has been found racist and undefinable by the California Supreme Court...
