All to often it sits in evidence rooms. Smart agencies use it for new gear that taxes cannot pay for or they wouldn't otherwise be able to get. It can also be used to pay overtime for officers to get out there and do more of what they were doing to get the money in the first place.

IIRC, many crime labs that do drug/chemical testing and forensics work were built and equipped with confiscated drug money.

Confiscated, or siezed property (which if you look past the surface is total bullshit) is usually sold and the funds given to the agancies to use for their equipment and training. Siezed cash is the same, but obviously no need to acution it first.
