I can't quite write this off as the R's just staying home in this case; with these numbers, it looks like NYS will still be blue in the general unless Trump can handle Hillary the way he handled Jeb in the general.

Or...

With 90% reporting, Trump almost quadrupled Cruz's votes.  Hillary could only manage 35% more D votes than Bernie.

So NY is 2/3 Dem? I thought it would be more......

New York could be blue this round?...        What the hell is going on now.  Can't wait to see the media spin the Trump victory as amazing.  This whole thing is a joke.

Total up the number of D's in the state, and the number of R's. even if every R voted for Trump in the general, Trump will still get skunked because the Ds will unite against him.

On the bright side, there are lots and lots of D voters voting for Trump instead of Shrillery.

Works for me. Hell, I'd vote for my neighbor's yappy little dog if I thought it'd keep Shrillery Clingon out of office.

New York is never going Republican ever again in a general election.

There are currently 235 electoral votes which Democrat candidates can rely on getting.

2-1 Commie in the vote, but at the same time, 90% of what they call a Republican in New yawk, is considered just to the left of Che' in the midwest and south.

There are no Conservatives in the Northeast, just liberals that like their money....like Trump.

Trumps not a Republican. He's a populist/nationalist that only registered Republicans were allowed to vote for today.

Trump winning New York was never a question, hilary winning was.  It's simple, if the race is so one sided that the winner is obvious whether you show up to vote or not many people will simply not bother.

There are about 2.5 million republicans in New York state, only republicans can vote in the republican primary in New York state. To vote in the Primary as a party affiliate, you must have been registered to the party for atleast 1 year prior to the Primary election date.

He won't make it truly competitive in terms of EC votes, but they will have to spend in order to compete in many other state level and congressional elections. It serves as a good distraction that we will need.

We'll see what happens in the general.

But the fact of the matter is that Trump pulled in FOUR TIMES as many primary votes as did Romney in 2012.

The man gets turnout. You know, when there is actual voting to be done.

Cruz won 531,129 votes in tiny WI... Trump won't get that many votes in his home state of NY...

NY has three times the population of WI.

Ya think?

For many states in the US, it literally doesn't matter who the nominees are for either party in November.  Some states will vote Red regardless (Texas) and some will vote Blue regardless (New York).

Most will stay home, vote 3rd party, or come out to vote against Trump, as opposed to voting because they like Clinton.  They aren't simply anti-establishment.

And Trump is not likely to secure 1237. At a contested convention, Trump's best shot is to offer the VP slot to Kasich and hope Kasich's delegates push him over the top. A good number of Trump's delegates are actually Cruz supporters, and Rubio (bless his heart -puke) has said Cruz is the only conservative left in the race. So if Trump can't clinch it outright, where do you see his path to the nomination?

The exit polls indicate that conservatives are vastly outnumbered just among Republicans in NY.  And that's going by the loose criteria of "identifying" as a conservative.  Every indication pointed that way, and that's why I never thought Cruz had a chance there, nor any other conservative (like Walker or Paul, if they had made it this far, although back when they were around I wasn't sure it would still matter at this point).  Best case for Cruz was to get a handful of delegates.  The most liberal States back east will definitely go for people like Trump or Kasich.  It's just natural when the average Republican over there would be a Democrat almost anywhere else.

Things won't start looking up again for Cruz until the race starts shifting back west.
