Have some salmon in the fridge, wasn't sure if it was still good. So I look at the date....does this make sense to anyone?

It depends.  Was it frozen?  Even a date may mean nothing.  Does it smell like rotten gopher guts?

It's OK to eat until April 3, 4041.

So you have to eat it within about the next two thousand and twenty five years, to be safe.

You're good to go...

If it has always remained frozen since it was originally frozen, it will always be safe to eat, even though it might not be all that tasty.

So sayeth the FDA.

But that date code is a fuckin' mystery.

Best thing is to cook it up and see if it smells ok while cooking.

Just be ready with a plan B if it turns out to be bad.

The date is printed backwards.

It's good until the 14th day of 04 (April) of '34, so you've got a few years left.

Does it stink?

You can actually eat some pretty rotten food especially if you cook it.

Its not terribly likely to kill u.

I never really pay attention to expiration dates, every once and a while ill clean out the fridge and throw out all the random condiments that are about 5 years past due...

It depends on if it is hamburger meat or ground beef.  You haven't given us enough information.

Call or email the manuf. They will be able to clear it up for you.
As long as it smells like it's supposed to, You should be fine.

Supposedly Russian explorers have fed thawed out wooly mammoth meat to their dogs without ill effect, so a couple thousand years doesn't seem out of the question...
