So for the past month I've been seeing this fly girl that I met in one of my college classes. I dig her.

The intimacy is good and A alike B alike
we C alike. I really enjoy her company. A few weeks back I noticed all sorts of cash laying around the apartment and she lets it be known she is a stripper. She says she does'nt enjoy it and just does it to pay the bills and pay for college .
I'm like OK cool, cause some of my buddies girl's are strippers and they're OK(well maybe one of 'em). 2 days ago she tells me she is bi-Polar and takes Prozac, zoloft, and some other meds. I'm yet to see the "Daahrk Side" and am not sure what to expect. Any of you guys been in these shoes?

Your comments please?

You DO realize that you are facing an account termination.

You violated CC rule #1564362346 :   Failure to post photo of hot stripper girlfriend when posting information about aforementioned chick.  [;)]

You had better correct this ASAP !  (or at least before Lord Trader sees this) [:D]

Not really. Although true in enough cases. But the root cause comes from being physically attractive and not needing to develop any other qualities.

I some how know a lot of strippers.  Don't know why but more than 20 or so.  Saw 4 actually working naked and such.  The others mostly around school.  First off all of them are due to their visit to a shrink.  Second they see men as only a means to an end.  IE Love = money.  Third Your destined to a life of bad things if you go this route.  Sure their nice, sure they hate their job, yea right.  If you like her so much go and see her while she is dancing and make an informed decision then.

I believe I would get away, My friend got beat up one night due to the stripper girlfriend.

Her and him had an argument, she went to work called him to the club, then it was on. The bouncers beat the shit out of him.

Two weeks later we went to the club and needless to say the law and ambulance was  called, but we walked away.

They hang together dude and when you cost the club money due to the stripper cannot perform for personal problems between you two then you are on the hit list.

I would really get out of the Bi-Polar, relationship before you find out something you do not want to.

If you stay together good luck and wish the best.

Wanna know why?  One of the symptoms of being bi-polar is an addition to sex.  I worked with a girl that is bi-polar.  She hooked up with as many men as she could.  Had multiple boyfriends.  She was the most annoying person I've ever met in my life.  She could not shut the hell up.  She constantly went on and on about her life, her mental illness and the drugs she took.  I was so glad when she quit.

She's taking Prozac AND Zoloft?
Those are both SSRI anti-depressants.  Hell, she might as well get a 'script for Paxil and do a triple-header.
And I thought lithium was prescribed to treat bi-polar disorder?

I wouldn't get too involved with this one if I were you.

Yep, and she had LOTS of hot sex with ALL the guys before you too! Think about that one for a second...

Bi-polar females are usually a product of a poor male role model (dead beat daddy). They usually dont have healthy sexual boundaries.

My advice, having been with a couple of medicated chicks, is to stop now before your heart becomes too involved. Unless you like pain and anguish.

Also, get to the doctor and get checked for AIDS and everything else and get re-checked every 6 months for a while...

Yep strippers are all whacked in the head and Lithium is for Bi-polar disorder --wait till she stops taking it for a bit, ask me how I Know. Hide the kitchen knives. best bet is hit it for a while but dont get your heart set on it or try to "save" her, then run when the trouble starts. I had a place down in GA before I got married and had at times up to 4 of them as renters. Total Chaos never could pay thier rent ontime cars gettin repo'ed monthly, makin $8-900 in a shift and blowing it in buckhead to the point where thed call at 4am becuase they didnt have taxifare between em. Total loons but total fun. Just dont get involved emotionally.

i only dated one exotic dancer (a gentleman's nomenclature for "stripper"), so i'm no expert.

this girl was definitely nutz...not mental. not depressed. not low self esteem. she was just plain, old nutz!

the attraction was never more than purely physical on my part and security/dollars on hers.

i ended up feeling very sorry for her...despite her not needing my 'advice' and guidance.

in the end, i hit the silk and to this day i often wonder where she is and if she is ok.

This is sooo true it's funny.

Waiting till past forty to settle down/get married provides loads of opportunities to do crazy/dumb stuff (and get away with it).  If you want to alienate ALL your friend's gf's/wives, try dating a hot number dancer.  That process of elimination reduces your social circle post haste.

Been there, done that.

My advice?

DO NOT GET EMOTIONALLY INVOLVED!!!!

you'll be sorry!

Your life will be a mess.

The sex may be great, but it's not worth it.

I went through the 'sexual revolution' of the late 60s, early 70s. Take it from me.

BTW, back then the clap was the worst thing that could happen to you. Think about it.

LiCO3 is the drug of choice for manic depressive illness. However SSRIs and tricyclics are often scripted to treat a depressive episode, with LiCo3 being introduced concurrently.

Well, I'm a grad student going for my MFT (Marriage and Family Therapy) degree, so I know a "little bit" about her condition.

She can either have Bipolar I disorder or Bipolar II disorder.  Both have kinda lengthy criterion lists, so I won't get too involved here.  I'll just give you a quick version of each...

Bipolar I:  characterized by one or more Manic or Mixed Episodes, usually accompanied by Major Depressive Episodes (DMS-IV TR, 2000, p. 345).

Bipolar II: characterized by one or more Major Depressive Episodes accompanied by at least one Hypomanic episodes (DMS-IV TR, 2000, p. 345).

Okay, let me break it down for you guys a bit.  When the person is experiencing a manic epsiode they are more likely to engage in risky behavior.  When they are manic they will exhibit the following symptoms:  1)have a flight of ideas, 2)inflated self-esteem,3) decreased need for sleep, 4) increased goal-directed acitivity and lastly, but certainly not least, 5) excessive involvement in pleasurable activities that a have a high potential for painful consequences (e.g. SEXUAL INDISCRETIONS, buying sprees, and foolish business investments).

Now that we know what happens when someone is manic let's see what happens when some is experiencing a major depressive epsisode, which is the other part of the bipolar disorder.  When a person is going through a depressive episode they have to have at least five symptoms present, which may include:  1)depressed mood most of the day, nearly every day, 2) diminished interest or pleasure in all, or almost all, activities most of the day, 3) insomnia or hypersomnia, 4) fatigue or loss of energy nearly every day, 5) feelings of worthlessness or excessive  or inappropriate guil, and/or 6) recurrent thoughts of death, recurrent suicidal ideation  without a specific plan, or a suicide attempt or a specific plan for committing suicide.

Okay, so if she's has bipolar I disorder she'll probably exhibit more of the "fun" episodes, whereas if she's bipolar II she'll exhibit more of the "not so fun" episodes (e.g., sad and depressed."

Medication does help, but from what I understand it depends on the severity of her symptoms.

Okay...so in this case, if she's a bipolar I she probably real fun to hang around, but it won't be so good is she's a bipolar II.

Not to talk bad about people with mental health disorders, but you should think twice about getting involved with her.  Plus, if you know what her past history is like you need to take that into consideration.  As for the stripping job, maybe that's fulfilling some attention needs.  Without more inormation that's just purely speculation.  At any rate, GOOD LUCK!

Manic Depression: Bi-Polar is nothing to joke about.  I have had to deal with a childhood friend with this disease for about 15 years. She is absolutely brilliant.  Probably the most intelligent person I have ever known. Unfortunately, I had to sever all ties with her.  It was not the depression that worried me; it was the mania.  When she was manic – she thought she was “Super Woman”:  She would sleep with so many guys (she now has Herpes); drink obsessively – along with street drugs; ruin all genuine relationships; and lie – so believably...and she would steal (even from me).
 Her profession:  Social Worker (inner-city).
I have tried for so many years to be supportive… mainly because when she was on her meds, she was so incredible and gifted – a joy to be with.  However, I think the longest she ever stayed with her program was 2 years – she missed her “highs”.  She drained me.  It was one of the hardest things I ever had to do…breaking off the friendship.

My advice in regard to your girlfriend:  Say goodbye.
