I decided on the Polish eagle which while common I've always felt that was the ideal symbol to use .

I thought about putting Rodzina underneath it which is Polish for family. It's to recognize the Polish side of my family which is only 2 generations back or so (My grandmother was involved with the new Polish govt during WW2 as an aide to general Sikorski)

I have 2 tattoos to recognize the Celtic side of my families history so I thought a Polish one would be a good way to end it.

Any other suggestions in place of a Polish eagle?

All done!

Thought Polish tats were transparent.

haha edit - 3 guys must cross the desert, a Brit, a frenchman and one polish, each can bring one item to survive. The brit and frenchman both choose water, the polish guy chooses a car door. Why a car door?! Drum roll.....So I can roll down the window when it gets hot.

I'd say drop $100 on an Ancestry dna test before you get a tat to celebrate your Polish heritage.

This is coming from a long line of Irishmen who turned out to be actually from Scotland.

My mother's maiden name was Strudwick. My grandmother changed it. She was very secretive about her time during the war  . It was originally Sokoloff.

Cultural appropriation of military heritage for someone who never served? Why not?

Get a kotwica, your felon tattoo artist is less likely to mess up the lettering.

Edit: changed my mind, get a paczki.

Why did I know you'd say something about having a Celtic tattoo as well?

"Do you speak Polish? Were you born in Poland? No. Don't get one then." (This is coming from my Polish wife).

We have quite a bit of family still in Poland. I'm learning the language gradually. It's a difficult one to learn.

And what is bad about celebrating your families history? Family is important to me and I loved my grandmother very much.

That's kind of hilarious--my family has always celebrated its Scottish heritage, claiming as our closest ancestor one Mr. McPherson. A little genealogical research turned up some census data that led to the discovery that Mr. McPherson was actually an Irish bastard named O'Neil, who came to the US in the mid- to late-19th century, and whom the McPherson family adopted.

When I broke the news to my very proud family members none of them wanted to hear it, and they still pretend to be proud Scots (which I found hilarious even before the great Irish revelation since the last of my alleged family to live in Scotland died in the US in the early 19th century).
