My neighbor next door and I are on pretty good terms, we've hung out a few times, and our wives spend a fair amount of time together. He's been out of the country since just before Thanksgiving and his wife went to stay with family (several states away) for the holidays. He just got back last week and will be joining her and their infant son tomorrow.
I had a question for him, and I went and knocked on his door. We stood in the doorway and chatted for a few minutes, and then a female voice chimed in on our conversation from inside. I hadn't had any idea she was there, but she was apparently part of the group that went overseas with him. I don't know what to do. To those that say MYOFB, believe me, I want to. Feel free to convince me that it's the right thing to do. If it's right for me to say something to him then I want to be direct about it (i.e., no "accidentally mentioning it to his wife" etc) |

Keep your mouth shut and remember that no good deed goes unpunished.

How do you know it wasn't a family friend, or his cousin or something?
|
|
It could be his daughter or some other family member. Don't go shitting where you live. Trust me, it won't end well.

yeah myob.
If he's being shady it will catch up to him on its own |
|
Awh man... that's a tuff one. Been in a couple of similar situations myself. Have you talked to your wife about it??
|
|
How, whatsoever, is it your business? Daughter, cousin, mother, friend, girlfriend, second wife, whatever, doesn't matter. Not really your business.
|
|
need more details. If the neghbor is not aclose friend then myob.
|
|
Uh yeah stay out of that shit. You will become the bad guy to everyone if you run your mouth.
|
|
MYOB
He will get his in the end, whether that be good or bad. Your involvement will likely lead you being the bad guy in one way or another. And remember, he might be your neighbor for a long time. Don't shit where you sleep. |

He's 24, like me, and his son is six months old. My question was about his experience at the airport my wife and I are flying out of Saturday, and she chimed in about their experience. She was part of the group that went on the trip together. |

I find myself not agreeing with the MYOB crowd a lot of times but this one is a no brainer. MYOB!
OP I know your intentions are good and pure but its best left alone, at least by you. |

They might have an open relationship, you don't know, its none of your business.

There are just as many explanations for why she is there as there are reasons why she shouldn't be. Unless you walk in and she is straddling his face screaming 'GET YOUR TONGUE IN THERE ALL THE WAY YOU DIRTY WHORE!", you mind your own business.

This too, someone in your house doesn't mean anything extra-marital was going on. Again, nunyabizness. |

Well, would you want to know about it if the situation were reversed?
Might as well say something about it. |

Yeah she's pretty upset because his wife idolizes him and would never have any idea.... What kind of overseas trip was it? Business, school, prize from lets make a deal? Details matter. Plus; 1) Obviously the wife knew this guy was traveling with others, this woman included, a lot more could happen could in another country than in his house the day before he leaves. 2) If she was there for the reasons you're thinking about making yourself look like an asshole for, she probably wouldn't have chimed in to a conversation with his neighbor. 3) If he didn't immediately freak the fuck out as soon as she piped up, he probably wasn't doing anything inappropriate. 4-infinity) You live next to this guy, if you're right, they'll both hate you forever. If you're wrong, they'll both hate you forever for instantly assuming he was cheating. Just keep your mouths shut. If you absolutely cannot control your urge to get into this guys business, talk to HIM about it, quietly, in private, and make a decision based upon that conversation instead. |

No good can come of opening your mouth. The only thought I had come into my head was find a way to get your wife to see and she would almost definitely say something. After 2 seconds of thought that just didn't seem right and if things went down you would have to defend your wife and you still end up in the middle of it. Keep your mouth shut and assume it was his niece/family friend/something innocent. |

Since when are you the moral sheriff? Don't be a snitch. Guy wants to cheat on his wife, that's his business. Let him have his rope, if he's in the wrong, he'll hang himself. |

everything plays out to it's own tune, if it turns out to be nothing you could be an a$$hole for causing or starting trouble that never was.
It's called gossip, if you are right there will be trouble and lost friendship if you are wrong there will still be trouble and lost friendship, this is a no win situation on your doorstep you gain nothing by saying something and will lose something by saying anything. it's not your life nor place to get involved in, unless you are close friends stay out of it. I had a nosy neighbor digging for gossip tell me once that they seen a lot of cars come and go and lots of women over at my house., no im not a drug dealer and all those "women" are aunts, cousins and friends. who are they to start trouble in my relationship because my mom came to visit. |

From experience - don't say a fuckin' thing unless you love drama - or looking like a stupid nosy neighbor - or both.

MYOB, but remember. If he'll cheat on his wife, he'll cheat on his wife with your wife.
ETA: as in, keep an eye on him. He may be a snake, and he's close to home.

That's your proof of wrongdoing? Unless she said "Hey come back here so I can finish sucking you off" your proof is there was a female voice in the house. MYOB. |
|
Since you had no idea that the woman was there, is it possible that there were other people there too?
Such as the woman's boyfriend or husband? Oh, MYOB. |
|
It's been said, but I'll say it again.
MYOB. Nothing, I repeat NOTHING good can come of this for you. Shut your yap. Don't tell the wife, she is guaranteed to blab. Just forget it. |

HEY OP...GAME OVER - You told your wife - fuckup!
Now a potentially innocent gathering of coworkers will turn into a shitstorm when your wife dishes all the dirt - that probably was never there in the first place - to the neighbors wife. Bad feelings all around and you've likely made a mountain out of a mole hill. He'll hate you for making him look like a cheat, his wife will hate you for insinuating that her husband is a cheat, and your wife will eventually hate you for telling her AND ALTHOUGH SHE COULD NOT KEEP HER MOUTH SHUT - it will be the ruin of your relationship. What other people do in their houses is their business... NEVER yours. Thanks for fucking everything up... |

Alright, thanks for the replies everyone. Gonna be interesting to see how this plays out.

By the way, I'm a very conservative Christian father and husband, but I'd never make it my business to "ASSUME" anything when it comes to my neighbors. What you see and keep to yourself is one thing... ...but telling the wife to get her thought on it is asking for disaster. You'll see - whether you admit it later or not. Should have quit playing the moral pastor of the neighborhood and gone back to reading Popular Mechanics. |

If he is dumb enough to have a mistress at his house who talks to strangers at the door, any problems will solve themselves shortly.

The mere presence of the woman there is proof of nothing. You'll do more harm than good making any mention of it to anybody - especially to your own wife. |
