No thanks, I'd buy a Land Rover, you know, the vehicle that the Commander tried to look like?

Do u mean the LR3??

I have seen in 3 seperate occasions in the middle of the freeway Air ride suspension failure and something leaking nasty from the bottom.

UGGG!
That thing fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.

I didn't endorse it or praise the vehicle. If I had the money for an LR3, you'd better beleive I'd wise up and buy a Silverado.

Jeep screwed the pooch when they dropped the 4.0 liter inline 6 cyl. and the AW5 auto trany. They also stopped putting out front axles with carriers.

Get a Cherokee. They are bullet-proof!

Cherokee is too small.. And i dont need a truck.Already got a tundra
Link Posted: 7/25/2005 10:46:57 AM EDT

Biggest POS on the road. I know...I've owned two. You'll get to know the service manager very well
and he'll put more miles on your vehicle than you will. And as an added bonus, you'll get an oil
reservoir in your garage because they leak more oil than they burn.

In '98 I almost bought a Discovery LE. I bought an F-150 instead. The F-150 is doing just fine with 140K on the clock. I doubt that the Disco would have served me so well. The LRs are underpowered, overweight and burdened by obscene parts and insurance costs.

I'll take a pass on the Jeep-of-the-week. If that's the kind of vehicle you're after, get a Cherokee with the 4.0 and solid axles and woof it up.

I wish they went right to production with the Jeep Rescue. That thing was sweet looking.

As usual, the marketplace will pass by all you naysayers that whine about Jeeps being ghey and useless soccermommobiles ever since the Liberty.

BTW, there's plenty of Libertys running around the west already modded as seriously as any old Cherokee or CJ and climbing boulders.

every couple of years jeep puts out a STUNNING concept vehicle, which they fail to put into production.

the commander isn't one of them.

The interior is pretty nice and big but that front end looks clunky.

The Gladiator I'd buy in a heart-beat. The Commander is just another big SUV.

I want that truck so very badly. Should never have dropped the Comanche in the first place. Shouldn't have dropped the regular Cherokee either.

Not likely.... it's too cool looking. Why put out something people would actually want. It does have a Hummer look to it, but I think this is way cooler... as long as the price tag isn't like a Hummer it might blow Hummer sales right out of the water.

Ugly as hell, but it's still a Jeep, and that's a good thing. But of all Jeeps I'd like the Hurricane.
2 5.7 Hemis, 670 hp, 740 lb-ft, 4 wheel steer, ...........OH MY GOD
A Rescue or Gladiator would be a close second.

It's like they designed a capable 4WD vehicle, then crashed a luxury car into the interior

They should sell 2 other versions

"The Pretender" take away the 4wd etc. Just leave it looking like it is. This should satisfy most SUV buyers, 98% off which think "Off-road" is a dirty word. For the other 2% an AWD system should be an option.

"The BasiX" (Note the cool "X" to pull in status seekers........" Get rid of the sound system, sunroofs, leather seats, "climate control", ESP, side curtain airbags, smart lights, fog lights etc.

A roll cage goes in. A 2 speaker stereo is installed, speakers hang from the roll cage. Fog lights are at least 4", round, and attached to the top of the front bumper, between and just below the headlights................like God intended. Drain holes in the floor............that is uncarpeted.

Rhino-liner interior... and exterior as an option. No worried about soggy carpeting or scratched paint.

+1 Probably wouldn't have to worry about rust here in the rust belt either.
