I have heard that GEN Schoomaker has given an order that we are sleeves down all the time, but I can't find it. Sleeves up drives me nuts. Anyone have a link?

I heard that too.

There is a brand new 670-1 out, try there.

Sleeves down all the time? Why not? Sure. Everyone should wear a gay French hat as well.

I'm active duty Army and have not heard that. It is sleeves down when in a filed environment, ie. Iraq/Afganistan. The new ACU is sleeves down all the time though. Can't roll the sleeves on the ACU any way as the velcro and upper sleeve pocket won't allow a proper roll.

I just looked in the new AR 670-1 and it still shows a picture of the BDUs with rolled sleeves and adresses how to roll the sleeves properly.

Yeah I checked out the new 670-1 on my AKO and it does have the sleeves up still. That's why I don't do on the spot corrections until I know for sure.

It's pretty much up to your Command with BDUs now. I haven't had my sleeves rolled up in the last 2 years here in the 1st Armored Div.

When I was in it was up to the base commander.....

or your 1st Sgt, which ever was more evil.

my 1st Sgt was up in the morning, down in the afternoon and up in the evening. made us nuts!

Sleeves up is for pogues.

Wait a minute- we can roll our sleeves up?

It does not happen in 3rd BCT.

In fact, I have not rolled sleeves up since TRADOC.

I prefer down.

Tradoc decreed sleeves down at all times in the training environment. I've not heard anything beyond that in the long run.

Otherwise, seems to be commander-specific. Our armour battalion never went sleeves up, but I never objected to it myself.

NTM

There was a rumor circulating about it being against regulation(670-1) to roll up the sleeves but that's just another false rumor.
As with any regulation the command/1SG is always right so you gotta go with what they say.

i havn't had my sleeves up since 1992. Thank you general Blum. At the time he was Col. Blum, my BDE Cdr.

Where's 1st AD now? Giessen, Firedberg, KG? I left Germany in 97. By the way, MPs wear sleeves up unless in the field.

KG has been closed since 97. I'm here in Freidberg now myself. Giessen is still open. Was you in 527th MPs?

Nope. 564th in Fulda/Giessen and then 284th in Frankfurt.

I havent been in a unit where sleeves could be rolled up since we returned from Iraq in April 04'. Thats Ft Hood and Schofield Barracks policy AFAIK.
