"Virtuosity" - The movie wasn't all that great but I kinda liked it because I worked on the set for 3 days of filming some of the scenes, and I got to meet Russell Crowe and Denzel Washington.
How 'bout these sleepers... The Trigger Effect - (or what NOT to do when the SHTF) The Gods Must Be Crazy I & II - (hilarious slapstick comedy set in Africa) Boxing Helena - (weird flick... Sherilyn Fenn with no arms or legs is kinda sexy in a kinky kinda way) Mars Attacks - Jack Nicholson as The President, after the Martians blew up Congress... "I want the people to know that they still have 2 out of 3 branches of the government working for them, and that ain't bad." LMAO! [:D] Tremors, Red Dawn, Mad Max, Dr. Strangelove - cult classics |

I first came across the movie, "The Ghost and the Darkness" at a $1.50 theater. I hadn't even heard of it when it came out - and I was in College at the time - thus relatively immersed in pop culture.
Suffice it to say I was very impressed with the movie - the writings seemed to poje fun of liberal dogma and the gun handling was very well done. Best buck fifty I ever spent. BTW, it is also based on a true story. The Lions in question can now be found stuffed at the Fiedl Museum of Natural History in Chicago. |

(Starring Andy Garcia, Christopher Walken, Treat Williams, Christopher Lloyd and Steve Buscemi) and some lessor known character actors. I won't give away the plot but you wont be disappointed. |

Shining Through. Good WWII spy flick. Stumbled across it on accident looking for a movie to see at the theaters.Didn't know who was in it or what it was about, just knew we didn't want to see the other movies playing.

My favorite from recent films:
The Usual Suspects -- Kevin Spacey and Chaz Palmenteri play out an excellent drama. Do not watch this one while intoxicated; you need to focus your full concentration on it. For those who are younger and have not seen them: Murder by Death -- a hilarious comedic take on "10 Little Indians" and other such like mysteries. The late Sir Alec Guiness as a blind butler named Bensonmum is a classic. Sleuth -- Starring only two actors -- Sir Laurence Olivier and Michael Caine, a dark whodunit drama about a wealthy game-loving Englishman who extracts revenge on his adulterous wife's lover; has a delightful plot twist. The Sting -- with Newman and Redford as grifter scoundrels that you can't NOT like. With the incomparable late Robert Shaw as the rich gangster and scam target Doyle Lonnigan. Where Eagles Dare -- Richard Burton and a very young Clint Eastwood take on Nazis in the impregnable "Schloss Adler" -- Eagle Castle -- and rescue an American officer. The Eagle Has Landed -- Michael Caine plays a German colonel in a "can't lose" situation who takes on an unsanctioned suicide mission to kidnap Churchill in this adaptation of the Jack Higgins novel. Larry Hagman does a great job of portraying an a$$hole Army Reserve unit commander fixated on glory. The Last of Sheila -- another "Ten Little Indians" murder mystery from the early '70s with a cast of popular actors from that period. Silverado -- IMO one of the best westerns made. Kevin Kline, Scott Glenn, Danny Glover, Kevin Costner, John Cleese, Roseanna Arquette, and Brian Dennehy all are well-cast, and Bruce Broughton's music score is at once powerful and beautiful and underpins the movie with a musical sense of the West. And any of the Airplane!, Airplane II, Top Secret, Naked Gun, Hot Shots, Hot Shots Part Deux genre. Don't know what to watch? Pop one of thse in, and you'll always see another few gags that you missed the first 10 times that you saw them. Noah, self-styled film critic |

No offense, but I thought Buckaroo Bonzai sucked.
Best sci-fi - Aliens, the original. I saw it in the theater when it came out in the late 70s and it was way ahead of its time. Best western - Silverado. I've seen it dozens of times and I still watch it when it comes on. Funniest scene: when they steal the gold back from the outlaw gang. LOL IIRC, Midnight Clear was semi-based on a true story, when Americans and Germans quit shooting at each other and sang Christmas songs together. I had forgotten about Dead Calm - great movie, good suspense.. Billy Zane was positively nuts and Nicole Kidman was HOT! Carrie was a good scary movie, and I had a thing for Amy Irving back then. [:D] |

The way of the gun,is a bad ass flick,it has some really brutal scenes in it.When they wrapped that guys wrists and ankles in bobbed wired and were stretching him with the come along was hardcore.
Snatch,Good flick.If you have not seen this rent it before zee germans get here. I am gonna mention Heat cause thats how fire and maneuver should be done.Plus that just plain should give you a hard on.Val Kilmer and Robert Dinero were just plain hardcore in that movie. Pulp Fiction. American History X. Lake Placid.Betty White from the Golden Girls is in this and shes pretty funny. I like movies with honest humor in it.Cool gunfight scenes that are realistic. |
