WTF is up with all ths sites that require you to register your name, addy, phone #, etc?

It's not only irritating having to give up that info but it's also unsettling no knowing where else it is going once they have it. Not to mention another freakin username/password to have to remember.

I know someone is going to say "well, just give them fake names and all that"... Sometimes my brain is so run down I can't even think of a good made up identity and end up using my own. But I always give a spam e-mail account...

I think it's great. I especially like the web sites that ask for age. Since I started putting down 1930 for DOB, my inbox is flooded with offers of senior discounts.
