I would like to tell you about a conversation I had with someone I was giving a ride in my car. Not exact quotes, but close enough. Rambles on but bear with me...
ME "So, what do you think about gun control?"
B. "It's good"
ME "Do you know what I mean by gun control?"
B. "Being safe with guns."
ME "No, I mean passing laws that would keep people from owning guns."
B. "Oh, well that's not good"
ME "Why not?"
B. "Because people might need a gun."
ME "What for?"
B. "In case there's a robber or a bad guy breaking in their house."
ME "So if they make laws and come take our guns away, who would have all the guns?"
B. "The police."
ME "And who else?"
B. "The robbers because they don't follow the laws anyway."
ME "So then what would happen?"
B. "The robbers would be able to come in and steal our things and we wouldn't be able to stop them."
Simple ideas we have all heard before, logic that cannot be denied and has been proven in other countries and is now being proven in some states. Why can't the anti-gun people understand this? For the children my ass. "B" happens to be my eight year old son. He understands it and I think I let him come to his own conclusions.
