Seeing bootedaddys thread on "you know you're old when...", this got me thinking. Every generation has a boy band that teens relate to. Please take the term boy band loosely. From the Beatles to now N'Sync. So lets show our ages. What was the boy band in your era(teens)?
Mine would have to be [blue]New Edition[/blue](the group Bobby Brown came from)= Pop [blue]Judas Priest[/blue] = Rock and for a Teen Diva it was [blue]Debbie Gibson[/blue] or [blue]Lita Ford[/blue] Ok maybe Lita Ford wasn't a teen. Nevertheless I drooled over her. |

Uhohoohooohoh The right stuff. Hey I use to get jiggy wid NKOB.

Mr Telephone Man there's something wrong with my line. Yeah I remember New Edition. And I also remember those gaudy NKOTB letters behind the New Kids. There are simply some memories one should not have.
"Any abrogation of the Bill of Rights that cannot be rectified at the soap box, the ballot box or the jury box.. must be overturned by the cartridge box, or lost forever." |
Riddler, Air Supply?!?!?! LOL (just kidding)
I can just barely remember watching some old Menudo videos back when I was young.
After that, it would have to be NKOTB. That's right, New Kids On The Block. So who else here was "Hanging Tough" during the 80s? |
I don't remember any "boy" bands when I was a teen, (except the Jackson 5). Deep Purple, Allman Brothers Band and Jeff Beck Group were bands I could relate to, however.
Bud |
Buddy Holly and the Platters?!?!? OK I give. YOu win Grand Pa ROTFLMAO [:D]

I still listen to Herman's Hermits sometimes. I'm really not that old, but I liked them when I was a kid.
Also The Beach Boys and of course The Monkees!!! |
NKOB, but I have been a metallica fan since I was 11... am 20 now.
They're not boy bands by any means, but I cut my teeth for my musical taste on G&R and Metallica.

OK LT
No boy bands, just the classics, In no particular order, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Deep Purple, Doors, CCR, Chicago, Doobies, Mountain, BTO, Santana, America, Yardbyrds, Jeff Beck, Cream, Yes, Billy Joel,Grand Funk, Hendrix, CS&N, Emerson Lake & Palmer and the WHO just to name a few... And to top it off...when I was 16 I went to see Iron Butterfly at the Philmore East and guess who the warm-up band was???? LEAD ZEPPELIN....They Kicked Ass...We Booed IB off the stage. |
LT,
Hate to admit it but I did listen to their songs then. I was some sort of sentimental fool whose outlook in life was so naive. take care [:)] riddler |
Early: The Beatles, The Rolling Stones
Later: Led Zeppelin, Santana |
I forgot: Creedence Clearwater Revival. That was during the Vietnam era. They rock!
Most of the above don't exactly seem to be "boy bands." The POS "boy bands" popular when I was a kid were Bobby Sherman, David Cassidy and the Osmonds. Later when I was an *older* kid Leif Garrett, Andy Gibb and some other little dweeb who I think was related to Cassidy hit big. I can't remember his name. See, advancing age does do *some* things for ya!
Defining things loosely, the Beatles when I was a kid. Defining things more strictly, the Monkees or the Osmond Brothers.
New Kids on the Block, Crap like that. In my later teens, it was Nelson.
Alright I was just getting ready to post this on my thread.
I listened to music through the 60's everything AM had to offer. LOL But the band that changed everything for me was. GRAND FUNK RAILRAOD I literally went through a 1 year period that no other music or bands graced my 8 track craig goose necked player. GFR rocked and kicked ass for a 3 man band. |
Opps typo:
GRAND FUNK RAILROAD the board still won't let you edit. |
I would say old Van Halen, Duran Duran, and I can still remember when it was cool to dress like Michael Jackson. *ack*!

Well now I feel old, thanks LordTrader. I remember going to see a bar band, a guy named Bruce Springsteen. A local (for me) guy, Ted Nugent (pretty wild stage show). And who could forget Alice Cooper, saw him at Cobo Hall in Detroit. still remember a guy falling off the balcony to the main floor during that show, nobody even seemed to notice (must have been the smokey atmosphere). Ambulance guys had a hell of a time getting to him.
Of course the Beatles. |

NOT NELSON!!! AAAAUUUGGGGHHHH!!!
