Disclaimer: I am not LEO or anything close. That being said, it looks to me that the cop made several errors.

1. Putting the gun up to the robber's head and being so close to him.
2. Not getting him on the ground and instead getting into a scuffle with him.
3. Nearly losing control of his firearm (after 1 and 2 have occured).

It seems to me "Get on the ground or I'll drop you" would have probably worked - though there's no audio so you can't really tell.

Like I said, I'm not a LEO or anything close, and I'm also not trying to Monday Morning QB this thing, but that doesn't mean I'm still not . I also don't know how deadly force laws in Ohio work for LEOs.

Any thoughts from our resident LEOs?

Man was unarmed.  Would not have looked good to shoot an unarmed man.

Pepper spray, taser, baton, etc...

Oh, yeah - dupe.

In the other thread several officers already stated the officer in the video made several mistakes.  Some even thought he should have shot the guy.

I would dupe you but the search function sucks ass and can't find the other thread.

The dirtbag was obviously grabbing for the officer's gun during the struggle.  Would have been a good shoot.
