...develop a set of standards which their members in elected office must adhere to in order to be party members?

In other words, have a list of party principles, and when a member votes or otherwise conducts themselves in an official capacity contrary to the party principles, they are no longer allowed to call themselves a Republican?

I'm just trying to figure out a way to oust the RINOs. If you are against the Tea Party, then you pretty much don't stand for traditional GOP principles, and shouldn't be able to call yourself a "Republican".

How about simple "when you say you're going to do shit, do the shit you said you were going to do."

That's the idea. But what I'm saying is, can there be consequences, like being officially booted from the party?

In a word, NO.

There is no such thing as party discipline in the Republican Party.

"Party discipline" is a European thing. It's a corollary to a multiparty system, in which you can enforce ideological purity.

We've never had it in America. The American constitutional system makes it very hard to have more than two major parties, and these parties, to be successful, have to be broad coalitions. "Litmus tests" cut down your potential coalition, and diminish your chances of winning.

We could call it a purity test!
