I'm having a delima......

I have a HK41 in about 97-98% condition, some of you may have seen the pics I posted when I bought her.

The gun I want/can't decide on AUG

I would also be throwing in my SL8 in the trade

Should I do it??????

You can get parts for the HK. Parts for AUGs are really pricey, that's why I sold both of mine.

I have a green one already......do I REALLY need another one

I had a green 20" and a black 16". I sold them both because of the parts scarcity. I even had a 20" spare barrel with the black furniture for the black stock AUG. Had a boat load of mags. Sold the whole shooting match and bought a Scout M1A, and had about $6000 left over. Much happier.

Parts are not that hard to come by.  Not many parts on an AUG will break. A small parts and spring kit from PJS will not run you that much money. A spare trigger pack and bolt may come in handy as well.  Yes they can be pricey but with those parts unless you shoot full auto they will out last you.

The only thing I'd have to buy is a lefty bolt.......southpaw costs extra these days

Get the AUG!!!! I've had mine for over a decade and put cases and cases of ammo through it. Never had a malfunction of ANY kind and nothing has EVER broken. Listen I love AR's but some of the parts are fragile on AR15's....not so on the AUG's they are overbuilt by a factor of 100! ANy parts you MAY need to change cost like $20. Just go to PJ's Steyr AUG for pricing. Here are some pics of my AUG: Check out the size of the bolt-lugs:

Here's the trigger pack, they're tested to 100,000 rounds!

Yeah I was asking if it is a push pin.

41s are damn rare but essentially is just a real expensive 91.

So you have to ask yourself which part is more valuable to you.

Let me refine the idea for you.

Are you into rare collectables? If so keep the 41, if not replace it with a cheaper 91.

By the same token regarding the AUG, there are cheaper ones out there. In fact most would prefer a 16" Black to a 20" Black. It is only the rarity that makes anyone consider the 20" Black.

For that matter if not for the 89 Import Ban most people wouldn't want an AUG at all. Could barely give them away in 88.

Personally I HATE rare specimens. I like to shoot my toys and I like to play with them.

I like to watch movies and fiddle fuck with the actions because it annoys other people in the room.

I like to train with my guns and run drills and dive in the dirt with them. I like to take guns and "toss them in a truck" and go shooting. I like to sling them in the rain after a hurricane and pull security at night for looters.

As a result I end up with duplicates of my favorite firearms. I have an AUG, MP5 and HK91 that are pristine (some still NIB) and I have a "duty" AUG, MP5 and HK91 that have some serious dings and wear.

I wish like hell they weren't so expensive or my "safe queens" would simply be reserve stock.

I wish they'd unban these fucking things. It would be worth it to lose their collector value to be able to reasonably replace them.

I've got several Augs including a FA Aug and HK41, 91's, etc.  I would say get the Aug.  I've finally decided to sell my 41 since I have the 91's.
