Please update your title to, "...A Remington Rand 1911 that fell outta the ugly tree, climbed another, and fell outta that one too."
Yea, not for that one. |

That bling will get you some respect in da hood. Needs pearl grips though.

I dislike Glocks, but that is one big turd! It should be painted brown!

Depends, how much do you have in the G30?
The slide is fucked, you'll have to chuck it. You can find RR slides on various auction sites though, if you want to keep the name. If the rest of the internals/parts/barrel is ok, you could strip it of it's nickle, pick up a Springfield slide, and turn it into a pretty good MEUSOC clone if you were so inclined. It'll never be a collector's piece, but the frame is proper and if the internals and barrel check out it can still be a primo 1911...again - with a proper replacement slide. Even a Caspian can breathe new life into it. If you have less than 500 into the G30, I probably would go for it, knowing I'll be dropping another $500 or so on the project...again - dependant on internals and barrel. I couldn't see spending more than 550-600 on it though, knowing it would be a project. |

If the owner of the 1911 added at least $250 to the deal.
Get another slide on ebay for around $150 and get the gun bead blasted and parked for $100 to $150. Sell the current slide for around $50 to $75. Assuming the bore is nice and no other areas of pitting. So you end up with the trade for a Glock 30 +$25 and a nice Remington Rand. |
|
I came here to say sure or maybe. I saw the picture and now it's hell no!!!
|
|
An original Remington Rand 1911 would be a steal if you could trade a Glock for it.
The abortion in the OP? Not so much. |
|
No, not even if it was a pristine one, unless said pristine one was worth a lot, then I'd trade it, sell the 1911, buy another G30 (or more realistically, a 9mm Glock), and bank the rest.
That's just me though. |

If you were actually considering this trade please sell / give all your guns to someone who knows hat they are.

At first I was like
Then I was like Now I am If the frame is OK I would give like $100 for it, put on a Caspian/Forster slide, strip & re-park, bush a decent barrel and use as a milspec bullseye pistol. So yeah, I would trade a Glock for it. |

Did someone put the slide in a vice or something? Bet ya the fucker was rusted shut at one point and pliers were used to pull the slide back. Fucked up, rusted finish turns to chrome bling...........

Gonna be hard to hit anything till you put on a front sight.

Quoted: WTF happened with those slide serrations? View Quote As sad as it is at one time the surplus 1911s just weren't special, they were common and inexpensive, so people would get a little crazy with them. That gun is a perfect example of bubba at work. It is the 1950's version of a TAPCO fucked SKS today. |

I want to make sex to my original 1943 Remington Rand and would normally throw the Glock at the guy I'd be into the trade so fast.
Unfortunately, that thing is so hashed out I'd probably pass. Sad to see. |
|
I was coming here to say I would, but, not so much
BTW I don't own a Glock |
|
Absolutely not. It's worth maybe $200 tops. There is nothing on that that has any value whatsoever.
[And this is from a guy that owns more then a few] For a nice clean RR, heck yes, I'd dump ANY Glock made [same for a 18] |
|
I was about to say yes until I saw nickel plating. I got a nice one off a member here that was re-parked decently and shoots real well for a little more than a new Glock large frame cost. Worth it for a piece of 1944 history.
