Absolutely. I think its the highest form of settling an argument. Granted, there should be strict rules set out for dueling as there was in past times, but I'm all for it. It might make people think twice before opening their big trap and talking shit to someone if they knew they could end up pacing off 10.....

Dueling involves two consenting adults. If not, then it is 'murder' or 'aggravated assault', not 'dueling'. |

I would have to have one hell of a lot of hate built up in me to agree to a duel...don't think I have it in me.
That being said, if it were legalized I think the weapons of choice should be limited to blackpowder flintlock pistols. Other than tradition, I can't come up with a good reason. Perhaps so that the injured would have a better chance of surviving. I dunno...just thinking off the cuff here. |

Duelling, in the past, was a way to save honor by showing that you believed your word to be as valuable as your life. A man's word or "honor" isn't weighed very heavily these days; duelling should be legal, but to duel would be a waste.

Dueling would certainly thin down the heard in a quicker fashion than "drive-bys".
It would also cause many a wise person to keep their tongues in check and their trouser snake in their pants more than seems to be the current manner. |
