ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Two suspects were injured early Thursday after a shootout with police at a McDonald's restaurant.
Undercover officers spotted a truck taken during a carjacking at the drive-thru of the restaurant, police spokesman Anthony Marcinkiewicz said. One of the officers placed spike strips in front of the truck, which included three occupants.
"As he walked away from the vehicle, the suspects began shooting at him," Marcinkiewicz said.
A shootout between the suspects and police ensued. No officers were hurt, but two of the three suspects were shot. They were in stable condition. Their injuries were not considered life-threatening, Marcinkiewicz said.
The men jumped out of the truck and ran before officers caught them.
Names of the officers and suspects were not released. The officers were on paid administrative leave during an internal investigation that is standard in any case where officers are involved in a shooting, Marcinkiewicz said.
