Tactical/Speed Reload
1. Make sure the firearm/magazines are unloaded. This should be obvious but...
2. Pretty simple. You will need a double action auto. Dry fire two rounds, drop the magazine, insert the new magazine and dry fire two rounds. Repeat. Practice for speed and fluidity.
House Sweep/Room Clear
1. Make sure the firearm/magazines are unloaded. This should be obvious but...
2. Choose your primary home defense weapon (shotgun, handgun, carbine, etc.). Pretty simple really, place targets (improvise cardboard cutouts, etc.) in logical locations in your home (feel free to designate them freindly/hostile) or better yet have someone else do it.
3. Move from room to room in a manner that affords you the greatest amount of stealth and protection. As soon as you recognize a target determine if it is hostile/freindly and as rapidly as possible engage all hostile targets. Give priority to positive sight picture and accurate dry fire. Repeat. Practice for speed and fluidity.
Rifle Holdovers
1. Make sure the firearm/magazines are unloaded. This should be obvious but...
2. Select a small target as some distance (100m or more is best). Using a rifle with optics (high magnification is best) practice sighting in the target, engage the trigger and maintain the crosshairs on the target before, during and after the trigger squeeze. Obviously you will need a very stable shooting position to do this with good results. Repeat. Practice for control and accuracy.
Just a note: Not everyone can practice the rifle skill in their yard (or roof) without alarming their neighbors, consider a window for supported postitions or sliding glass door for prone. If these vantage points do not offer 100m of unobstructed view you can go with shorter distances and very small targets. If you do go with a outdoor position, obviously concealment should be a priority.
