Larry Brown, a resident of Centre Hall, Pa., passed away on his birthday during the latter part of last year, leaving behind a trove of fascinating items. With no wife or children to inherit his estate, the entire collection — his house, TVs, snow blowers, motorbikes and of course cars — are heading to auction, with the Mustang the star attraction.

My dad had a '67 GT-500. He let my grandmother drive it. The water hose broke and she thought the house wasn't "that" far......

That is an awful dirty motor for a 8500 mile car. The different tires, who cares. That is a super sweet ride. I love the 8-track still in the deck.

Sorry, I couldn't let it go and send it to auction.

Hold on to that family heirloom.

You didn't read the article. The owner passed away with no family.

Doesn't really matter, the whole motor will probably have to be torn down and rebuilt due to sitting that long.

Same with brake lines, fuel lines, fuel tank etc etc.

Still, nice car.

It is so cool that these cars are still out there after all these years.

Based on the grease on the passengers side cylinder head, that 108000 miles....

"Vehicles with more miles, in far less original condition, have sold for over $100,000"

If he was scared to wash, he may not have ever changed the oil.
Link Posted: 3/14/2014 5:01:21 PM EDT
Yeah...if that's 8500 miles...they were hard ones.

He loved that car so much...he not only refused to wash it.... he then stuffed it with trash and left it in a barn and piled shit on it!!!

Still.....I'd steal that sucker in a New York minute if I knew I could get away with it.

This was challenged by Dane Hooper, an individual managing the estate, responding that the residue on the engine "looks like a thin film of undercoating or Cosmoline." This would make sense given Brown's obsession with keeping the car pristine (note the mud flaps to protect the quarter panels and fine wire mesh to keep debris from damaging the radiator). The coating may have been added to prevent corrosion prior to it being stored for 40 years.

Does the car come with dog collars and oil in a funny little tin with two caps?

I know a guy who sold a 1979 Pontiac Firebird with 6.7 miles on it for $85000. His family owned a dealership and it was never even titled. I got to sit in it.

LMAO in that people have enough interest in the title to come into the thread but than are to lazy to actually open and read the article but still make comnents.

Sucks if the state gets the cash.

I'm no fan of Mustangs, but that is one bad ass car. I hope it goes to somebody that will take it out every now and then and drive like they stole it.

I hate lunatics like these people.

I've seen so many rare cars ruined by mentally unhealthy quacks who let them rot away while they tell you how much the car means to them.

Their was a husband and wife at the Chryslers@Carlisle show a couple of years ago that had found and purchased a survivor Dodge Daytona and Plymouth Superbird that had a combined 9500 miles between the 2 of them. Everything original

good Lord I would have given the stuff to the neighbor, or charity before the freaking state got any money.

A lifelong friend of mine has a '68 CJ428 in his garage right now. All original car thats been parked since 1984.

I have pics buried deep within my hard drive somewhere. lol

It looks much like the one in the article above, only blue. It has the original 428 engine, factory roll bar and shoulder harnesses, etc... It's fucking badass.

He was so worried about rust he never washed it, yet there is rust everywhere under the hood. Eccentric people can never be understood, or told anything.

Looks like the starter solenoid, and the cables going to it have been changed. That is not a normal thing on a 8,500 mile car, and along with the valve cover with all the burnt oil, I'm calling BS on the story.

My same buddy that currently has the 68 CJ428 also use to own a baby blue 70 boss 429 mustang.

I sold it on ebay for him. He got $185k for the car. Last I heard, the car was in the Talladega Speedway museum/showcase/exhibit.

Not sure if this is *THE* car, but it looks identical to the one I sold on ebay for my buddy. Same exact color combo.
