His spelling skills were a sight to behold. He was one of the best spellers west of the Mississippi without question. It was thrilling to watch him deftly weave his way in and out of complex syntax and sentence structure without so much as missing a beat. What Gretsky was to hockey, the Sarge was to the English language.
He was so good I often saved parts of his posts to a Word document for posterity. Here's an example from December, 2004 in a discussion on theories of time travel. The Sarge is a man of strong convictions and his passion is evident in his replies:
[SteyrAUG] "But that doesn't explain the paradox. Can you go back in time and kill your parents or yourself?"
[Sgtar15] "Blagnorpter! Garv schlip nob twanglederp, or, glapnik ob noodledorfer. Haaaaaaaaa!"
[SteyrAUG] "WTF?!"
[Sgtar15] "Flooooooobnamulator! Bloptryx nofticator! Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!"
The age of heroes has passed and, like the meteorite that flashes brilliantly upon the horizon for just that one fleeting moment, we are not likely to witness his kind again.
