*rant on*
I hate senstationalistic reporting. Who cares about accuracy or content, as long as we get someone to read it!? Hell, they'll lead off a story in such a way as to make it sound like we're getting our asses handed to us, even if that's not the case.

Example: Insurgents Pound U.S. Base in Najaf

The headline indicates our forces are being pummelled by the enemy. Read to article and it's quite the contrary. Yes, anyone on the receiving end of mortar fire may be willing to debate the semantics of "pounding," but a barrage of mortar fire from an unskilled enemy is hardly a pounding.

All of the media world sure begin each day by televising/publishing its true mission statement: "Bush and America is wrong in every aspect concerning the MidEast and we will report everything with a leftist spin just to prove it."

You don't have to tell this to a group of people who constantly sees the phrase 'high powered assault rifle' assigned to an AR15. A weapon banned from deer hunting in most states because it's too underpowered.

The media sensationalize? Are you serious?

They do that to draw peoples attention. The news has to sound like stuff in a TV show.
