Senate Dems rolling out bill to force Trump to shed conflicts of interest

A group of Senate Democrats will introduce legislation requiring President-elect Donald Trump to divest any financial assets that pose a conflict of interest and place the money into a blind trust.

The bill would also consider any violation by Trump of conflict of interest or ethics laws a "high crime or misdemeanor under the impeachment clause of the U.S. constitution," according to a fact sheet on the forthcoming bill from Sen. Elizabeth Warren's office.

They are going to use any and every excuse they can to get Trump impeached even if they have to make new laws for him to break to do it.

During the Obama it was taboo to even whisper about impeachment, during the Trump administration I bet it will be screamed from the rooftops on a daily basis.

Yeah, good luck with that move. I'm gonna start calling him Teflon Don. The guy has an uncanny knack for turning this kind of thing around and making them look like complete idiots every time. In fact I bet he welcomes their shenanigans.

"I will gladly make signing "drain the swamp" legislation a priority on day one of my Presidency."
"The American people demand accountability from their Legislators and the Executive branch."
"Let's make tax evasion, conflict of interest and insider trading felony offenses for any and ALL government employees and elected officials."
"I eagerly await this legislation from my friends in the House and Senate and upon passage I will direct my AG to vigorously pursue and prosecute any and ALL violators."

Who are exempt to this day from insider trading laws. And whose very occupation does not amount to much more than the practice of legalized bribery.

He needs to come out and support this bill like his hair is on fire. Tweet everyday his support of it as long as congress, scotus, and federal agencies are all apart of the law.

If passed Trump should sell anything that can be construed as conflict and the have the FBI start investigating all of them.

that would drain the swamp so fast it would be a puddle in one cycle.

Personally, I'd greatly prefer our CIC to be heavily invested with great diversification in our nation's stock market. I want them to have some skin in the game. If he fucks up and does something bad for our economy, it should hurt him too.

Since Trump is the ultimate troll, would it be possible for Trump to create an E.O. to negate this once he's sworn in?

Fine.

Let's start with Nancy Pelosi.

First post nails it hardcore.

They want more rules and accountability?   I'm fine with that.   But they live by them too.   And i suspect that the Don could manage far easier than most of them.

How about adding a little something that makes insider trading based on legislative proceedings punishable by hanging

Yup. It was interesting when cavutto brought up JFKs fathers international holdings. Cardin had no issue with that but doesn't even want trumps children running the assets.

Democrats hate facts, and if brought up again they will be prepared to label it fake news.

He didn't run for office in order to enrich himself; although  that's what every lifelong politician currently in government  did.

There's absolutely no reason that Trump should have to divest himself of the companies that he built over a lifetime.

Too bad Trump didn't sign a vow of poverty  when he ran for office right OP?

Reguardless of who is in office a certain amount of transparency is required and expected. I DK what he owns or has stock in as long as there is enough transparency backed up by common sense legal advice to keep things in check. Appearances matter. If he is divested enough from the day to day operations then I say fine.

Unlike the bastards in the Obama administration compleatly turning a blind eye to the Clinton Foundation.
Blatant in our face corruption. Unchecked by the people elected to do exactly that !

At least Trump has/is acknowledging the potential for transparency issues and knows something needs to be done. Again...unlike Clinton that finds it perfectly acceptable to accept a donation to the foundation in return for a face to face meeting with a forigen Govt official.
