Hooray! The GOP is once again supporting the 2nd Amendment..... by being two faced. For those that don't know. The CMP was going to be allowed to sell some surplus US Military 1911 pistols.
Well, John McCain is trying to change it to where the 1911s are sent them to Museums and not the CMP for sale to civilians. NDA Act 2017 SEC. 331. Repurposing and reuse of surplus military firearms. (a) Army transfers.— (1) REQUIRED TRANSFER.—Not later than 90 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, and subject to paragraphs (3) and (4), the Secretary of the Army shall transfer to Rock Island Arsenal all excess firearms, related spare parts and components, small arms ammunition, and ammunition components currently stored at Defense Distribution Depot, Anniston, Alabama, that are no longer actively issued for military service. (2) REPURPOSING AND REUSE.—The items specified for transfer under paragraph (1) shall be melted and repurposed for military use as determined by the Secretary of the Army, including— (A) the re-forging of new firearms or their components; and (B) force protection barriers and security bollards. (3) TRANSFER FOR HISTORICAL PURPOSES.—Notwithstanding paragraphs (1) and (2), the Secretary may transfer up to 2,000 surplus caliber .45 M1911/M1911A1 pistols and 2,000 M–14 Rifles to a military museum for display and preservation. (4) ITEMS EXEMPT FROM TRANSFER.—M–1 Garand and caliber .22 rimfire rifles are not subject to the transfer requirement under paragraph (1). (b) Navy transfers.—Section 40728 of title 36, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following new subsection: "(i) Authorized Navy transfers.— "(1) IN GENERAL.—Notwithstanding subsections (a) and (b), the Secretary of the Navy may transfer to the corporation, in accordance with the procedures prescribed in this subchapter, M–1 Garand and caliber .22 rimfire rifles held within the inventories of the United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps and stored at Defense Distribution Depot, Anniston, Alabama, or Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane, Indiana, as of the date of the enactment of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2017. "(2) USE AS MARKSMANSHIP TROPHIES.—The items specified for transfer under paragraph (1) shall be used as awards for competitors in marksmanship competitions held by the United States Marine Corps or the United States Navy and may not be resold.”. |

He has a tiny fraction of this right: Send some to museums, but sell the rest to the public. These are historic pieces and should go back to the people who originally bought them for our military.

I use to thank him for his service before I criticized his actions, but no more. He just needs to go away.

View Quote The law as passed last year authorizes the transfer of 10,000 1911s to the CMP. McCain's amendment to this year's Defense Authorization is just a section of the Senate's bill. Is there a sponsor in the House version ? If not McCain is trying to over ride last year's public law. Contact the Rep that wrote the legislation and pushed the transfer last year. He won't be happy that McCain is trying to submarine him. This language can be stricken in the joint committee deliberations if only one side has voted on it. |
|
Any idea how many 1911s does the Army have in storage and could transfer to CMP? 2k? 20k? 200k?
Also, surprised he didn't demand the arms to be re-distributed to the Glorious Democratic Martyrs Brigades tribal militia somewhere, who later turn out to be an ISIS franchise. |

Can I, being from Florida, send him an e-mail telling him he is a disgrace to his office and a liar for not supporting the Second Amendment to the Constitution? Can I also tell him he is no longer fit to occupy the office he currently holds.? Much like the one I sent the Dem-o-rat Bill Nelson from Florida. Would it hold water? Either way I would like him to know now more than ever, with all due respect, that his room at the Hilton is now ready for him.

Wow. As usuall, lets go after an obscure firearms market that has never been connected to anything serious and shut it down. When all this is said and done, all the easy targets will be spoken for and all that will be left will be the mainline market, ie. your local gun store. Fuck these people.
