Does anybody know if this is legal? Have someone interested in buying a Jewell trigger from me that's from Germany. I told him I'd have to get back to him.

It's as good as legal. The worst it could possibly be is illegal in Germany so you may never get to visit there if caught. Just put "Machined Parts" on the declaration. I really can't see anything worse than a "Don't do it again" anyway. Now if you ship a whole rifle in 10 boxes or get into the business of Exporting that's another matter.

Check out the State Department's website concerning export of weapons etc. it should tell you what can and cannot be shipped.

The Export laws only apply to persons or companies "in the business of export". It does not apply to individual sales. I have received hundreds of parts from individuals and companies in the last 4 years I've been deployed to Germany. That's how I built my M4 upper receiver that I am now using here in Iraq.

You will not be breaking any laws to ship a trigger assy to Germany. Guns aren't outlawed in Germany, they just have strict rules on getting one.

I suggest that the above suggestions be looked into,as you will likely find that they are not right.  Certain firearms parts are restricted as munitions, triggers being one of them...

Just because people/companies have sent parts does not mean it is legal...  Read the regulations on exporting munitions.

Don't know the cost of that trigger, but suspect its over 100 bucks.
Then again in theory you could have picked it up at a gunshow for a few bucks, and in that case there shouldn't be any problems...

Actually, parts valued over $100 require export license.
Other major parts (barrel, certain fire control parts, receivers, etc.), no matter their cost, require an export license.

Hi,

In Germany only major weapon Parts needs a Licence to buy or own.
Major weapon Parts are: barrel, reciver, bolt and the stock if the weapon is shorter than 60cm.
Triggers, firing pins, optics,rifle stocks are free to own. BUT there is a ban on Laserpointers, night-vision-rifle-scopes and some other silly things e.g.  "shuriken" or "butterfly knives" are
banned too.

A Trigger can bought from everyone but the importer has to pay "value added tax" (16%) and some
customs fees.

Is it possibel to export 100rnd Beta C drums from the US now ?
